    Help with my Asstek

so today the car started causing me all types of grief....

It seels to like to cut out and turn back on the, lights flash inside and out, wouldn't start without a boost (got that fixed corroded connection), hatch works sometimes. It will reset itself when disconnect the battery.

we have checked to see what the parasitic losses are when the ignition is off. Found it to be 1.5 Amps. what should it be?

is there a possibility that all of this is can be caused by the BCM (body control module) ?

I plan on starting to look for parasitic losses. starting with the hatch.

anything else I should look at?

Parasitic current draw should be in the neighbourhood of 0.02 A.

BCM could very much be the issue...have heard of some odd BCM issue on those vehicles...

BCM went for a dump in our Venture (had water leaking in to it from the top of the windshield down the a-pillar - it's behind the glovebox on the vans) and it was doing some pretty weird stuff too!

If you don't have it figured out before tomorrow evening, I can come out right after work and we can check out parasitic draw before heading to BP.

the guy I was talking to said if I can get it under 1A I should be happy.... so .02A will be devine if I can get it.

as for tomorrow.... come on out... I just plan on getting it into the garage tonight and let it dry out.

Any idea where the BCM would be in thei POS?

IIRC...in the bottom of the centre console below the Radio and everything else in the centre of the dash...can be accessed through the sides of the lower console...

    Hey.

    Aztecs do have BCM issues.

30mV after a 30 miniute BCM shutdown routine. DON'T OPEN A DOOR or the BCM will trip back to an on cycle. (fool the jamb switch) BCM will causre a theft DTC (no start) light up various idiot lamps INCL ABS, VDC, SLIP, TRAC, SIR, ETC. body issues, unwanted locking / unlocking, no response etc.

    There will be set DTC's.

sounds like the issues I'm having... Lots of BS going on. ABS seizures for no good reason, Idiot lights tripping on and off.... dash shut downs etc.

Will this cause the engine to quit then quickly regain power etc?

There are different ones and they have to be programmed for the security system.

    Forbes Brothers, In brantford.

Spent some time last night and found that the system draw after full shut down was less than 10 mA. I was pleased with that.

I just recieved it back from the Steelership and was told that the BCM has several codes stored in its history. Several meaning 100's.... mostly Anti theft. I was also told that everything is running fine right now as well as all the issues I've been having are all tied to the BCM.

I have decided to just go ahead and replace it. The unit is about 350$ and I was told 2 Hrs labour.

    Seam fair?
