    02 Chev Odometer Gone

I'm looking at an 02 Chev Avalanche for a DDer and one issue with it is the odometer/digital displace does not work. Everything else works in the cluster.

Turns out this is a common problem and I'm wondering if anyone has encountered it and if or how they fixed it.

I prefer to build it and not buy it, you see it, I probably made it.

I changed clusters in a pos Astro for the same reason, mileage is in the cluster not the computer. Easy fix.

Well I did some research and it seems to be about 170.00 to fix it and there is a few local places that do it.

5.3l. The 8.1 would be a pig at the pumps

Also just got off the phone with a Speedo Repair place. 135.00 Replaces the whole lower display and 9times out of 10 that don't need to.

I have the 5.3 in my Hoe and love it. (Just incase you don`t know a majority of these newer vortec`s make a piston slap when cold. goes away after about a minute)

Had an 02 Chev 1500 at my old job speedo crapped twice in a year. It would start out that when slowing down it would almost pulse as it slowed down, would do that for a week or two, then it would just crap the bed and stop working all together. Was told it was pretty common on Chev's, since it was a work truck i didnt touch it and just took it in to have it fixed...

Our speedo in our 03 yukon went for a crap as we were driving home from the dealership. Turned out same thing happened in my sisters 03 tahoe she found a recall online. Dealer fixed it for free. We took my sisters bill to the GM dealership and they replaced the whole cluster free. The odometer still worked however...

Well I brought the truck home today, goes for a safety tomorrow, but he said the Odometer didn't matter.

I'll get it fixed a Canada Speedometer in Ingersol at my leasure then.

PS: I trust the OD reading when I bought the truck as the dealer's licence hangs in the bellow's if he lied about it.
