    P Code Help/Fix

    Hey,

The wife 02 TJ is throwing 2 codes.

    1) PO455 Evaporative Emissions System Leak Detected (small leak)

    2) PO422 Evaporative Emissions System Leak Detected (Gross Leak/no flow)

    My questions are

Is that the GAS cap Code...think I'll take it off and on

Can I drive it for a day like this

If an easy fix what do i fix?

    Thanks
    Brian

Do the gas cap up tighter, then reset the CEL.

    I bet that's it.

there are several this that can cause a small and large evap leak
    would try gas cap first,
    code wont clean by itself
the jeep will run a evap check only under proper conditions, ie fuel level at a certain level, when temp is at a certain tem ect ect ect

It'll take about 25 days (40 run cycles) for the evap code to clear.

    Code Clearing

Or start your jeep and turn it off a bunch of times (40)
and clear it in a day or two...

Disconect the negative lead on your batery for an hour and the code will clear. I had the same problem when I didn't tighten the gas cap after fueling once.

Billy, it won't clear that way. It needs 40 drive cycles. Engine must start cold, warm up so many degrees, be driven above 25mph for so many miles, fuel temperature be at a certain point... etc. Just cycling the key won't do it.

    Kojack, I believe you're correct.
