    Operation "Creep Jeep" begins

I thought I would log all the work about to happen on my 89 YJ. I have been getting a tonne of usefull information from some of the members on this site, which has been awesome by the way, and have been accumulating parts. The plan is to try to do most of the work with my two younger boys with the goal being a drivable jeep that likes the mud!

    Current status:
    SOA lift
    35" MickeyThompsons
    Black after market rims???
    Rancho 5000 shocks
    Bad grey interior
    Rusted front fenders
    Rusted tub
    Leaky tranny

    Aquired parts:
    New used tub rust free
    New windshield frame and glass
    Brand new front fenders
    New family roll bar
    all new brake lines
    All new poly body mounts
    New e-brake cables
    New windshield to cowl seal
hard half doors - wicked deal
Soft top with zip out windows - same wicked deal
2" body lift - same wicked deal but don't think I will use
Soft uppers - yup, same wicked deal ( all for 300 bucks!!!!)

    Still need:
    Hood - mine is dented
    New front bumper
    Spare 35" tire/rim
    Rear bumper with spare mount
Door hinge mounted mirrors for my half doors
Possible front and rear leafs as mine are kind of flat

Pics will come every time we do anything worth mentioning. I will be calling for help when it comes to the removal and install of the tubs as I am sure it's tougher than it looks.

    And away we go!

Heres a question. What should I coat the new fender wells with? I was thinking rubberized undercoating. What do you think? I would probably do under the tub the same way. Or, is it difficult and expensive to apply the bed liner stuff? Even under the fenders?

Bed liner is pretty easy to do and way worth any effort required.

PS I have a hood if you want it.

Should I just pick up the kit from C-tire? Is there enough in the one kit for under and in the tub? Any words of wisdom when it comes to applying it?

The parts ar beginning to pile up and the new used tub arrives tomorrow. My leafs are getting flat and I was wondering, if I put new leafs in that are more arched it will lift up my jeep even more. What am I going to need to do to my steering?

looks like you could use some new leafs, and yes leafs with more arch will raise the jeep. i'd try to find a pair of stock yj's leafs with more arch left if you wanna keep it low as possible

it looks like you are already spring over axle, any more lift and your tires are gonna look tiny! yj springs are really flexy, i'd keep them, and wheel it before swapping them out.

ID:	74360Not very good at keeping up with the progress but here is an update: Over the last year, moved to a different city and started my own company so it has been a tad crazy! I ended up removing the tub and front end and cleaned and repaired the frame. I also replaced all the gas and break lines.

While the tub is off, I'd clean up teh frame and coat it in POR15. It's bloody expensive but from what I've heard well worth the work and money.

ID:	74372I actually did clean up the frame everywhere while the body was off and ended up painting it all black. I also cleaned up the underside of the new (used) tub as well as spray in box liner inside the tub. I dismantled the dash completely and cleaned up all the wiring that was under there from stereos and alarm systems from previous owners. I put on new body mounts and placed the tub back on along with new front fenders. Here is a shot of the tub and some progress. I should have taken more pictures along the way but was way to busy.

I will take better pictures along the way. There are custom front and rear bumpers to build, side amour and a drop down tailgate. I will also be putting TJ Rubicon flares on it and a custom paint job for my company promo. More to come.

Cleaned, Sanded, primed and painted satin black inside, then used bed liner in a rattle can on the outside. Worked perfectly.

Ok. Hooked up all the electrical and hooked up the battery and my headlights came on, then i put the key in and turned the headlight switch on and lost the left signal light. Tilted my column up and lights turned off. Lowered the column and both headlights and one signal cam on. All the while the flare signals worked. Tried the four ways and nothing, signal left nor right working but passenger front running light stays on. Tilt the column up, lights out. Remove the key, turn the light switch off and tilt the column and voila! HEADLIGHTS???????????????????????? dash lights work as does the dimmer but no blower fan.

    1. Could it be the column itself? I checked all wiring and it is all connected.

    2. Re check all ground wires?

    3. Steering wheel is loose and wiggly, take it apart and tighten the four internal screws?

I should note that the engine did not turn over when I turned the key all the way.

Also. it is an 89 drive train with a 95 tub and dash wiring.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Pulled the column today. Picking up another one tomorrow, Cut the holes for the LED brake lights and cut the inside lip off the Rubicon flares. May as well do the small stuff while \i wait.
