    Has anybody run Ganaraska forest?

I just called, and they said that "jeeps" are allowed were the ATV's go. They have a network of trails, are government owed, and have a pass system(pay to play).

I see no link over at OF4WD. Why wouldn't OF4WD exploit this?

This is a totally LEGAL place for a beginner to go, and test there trail rated Jeep Patriot. I have no idea if the trails are any challage, but I know I have heard it's fun on a bike, or ATV.

Was just looking at my Ontario trails map last night, and woundered.

Wheelers saved my dad's ass. Broke his leg on the dirt bike. Some guy in a truck drove him out so we could get to a hospital

Well if it's decent wheelin, then why doesn't it ever get mentioned to people who say there is no where LEGEL to wheel. This is practiclly an GOVERNMENT RAN ORV PARK 1 hours drive from Toronto. Just a thought. Someone who controls the OF4WD website should post this info. It's ours for the wheeling!

There's alot of sticky people in there. Ive been yelled many times on my dirtbike by horse back riders and mountain bikers who we pulled over to let by us for being on "their" trails. Which were clearly marked Honda ATV trails that were cut by Honda for ATV's. If all the people who use the Ganeraska would get along it would be a much better place.

Well, sounds like if you have a pass, and are on the correctly marked trail, they are blowing smoke. The 4x4's would most likley be looked at as favorable from a horse person type, then say a 2-stroke dirt bike, or MX four stroke thumper. Again, I have never been since I had no idea 4x4ing was allowed.

The rules stat that people "on" motorized vehicles need to pull over, and shut there engine off while a horse passes..........that would be super annoying on a bike, or quad. 4x4's do that all day long on the trails.

here is a little reading for those interested in the case of OFF ROAD VEHICLES it is ATVs they refer to and put a weight limit of 400kgs
If in fact there has been a policy change this year then we have not received any word of it to date

I have read that, it specifically states that ORV's over 400kg are not permitted. That's too bad, I was excited for exactly a minute.

Can anyone confirm the OP's info?

I just phoned and asked the park office. The girl/lady said that Jeeps are aloud on the ATV marked trails. I was as surprized as you guys, since the rules on the site say different. She has sold passes the 4x4s.

I don't think Duncan's post about weight limit would apply here because the pdf posts are alll in regards to Simcoe County, not the counties where this forrest is located but thats just my 2 cents.

i geuss more research is in order. It be nice to have a legal place to wheel. and the cost of a member ship would pay for its self. after a few runs.

I have emailed the site superintendent (last night). I will post the official answer.

My email said (give or take): I have a Jeep. Am I permitted to use the ORV trails in Ganaraska Forest?
