    92 Tempo just wont start

the car just wont start. Turns over great but no spark. The plug wires are under a year old.
Can smell any gas even if I keep the accelerator floored.

    Any ideas where to look?

In my original post I meant to say that there is no gas smell.

As for the ignition module failing - there have been a number of wet mornings that the car started but seemed to be firing on a less than 4 cylinders. Would run rough for a few hundred yards and then run smooth.

    Today just nothing.

Is there a way to test the ignition module?
I thought the fuel pump was the culprit but I hear a hum from the rear of the car.

there is an inertia switch in the trunk. hit it with the handle of a screwdriver and then reset it.
your need to test the fuel system pressure with a guage. dont let the sound fool you .
    good luck.

dont trust cheapie ignition wires, especially if your car ran rough in the morning. I only buy dealer wiring, lasts the longest.

No, you can't test an ignition module. and unfortunately most retailers will not let you return electrical parts. Your only "test" is to swap with a known good one. Used to be able to go to a wrecking yard and find a running Tempo, and put your module in it... but they're rare now.

I don't think they're expensive, but they're very common to fail. If you're getting no spark I'd start there.
