tires not shoes make the man :-)

Just got her's and my jeep one step closer to being ready for the winter. This includes finally putting the new rubber on. Ah but with new rubber we need to have nice looking rims right???? ( BTW, she agreed with me )

So I figure I would show what we did, the chargold ZJ is hers, the rubber is Goodyear 245-75R16 Duratrac's on stock rims PC'ed with hybrid copper and clearcoated

Mine is the WJ the rubber is Goodyear 245-75R16 Duratrac's on stock rims PC'ed with dark grey and clear coated as well.

I think both sets came out really nice. Thanks for this site for giving ideas on doing this.

Agreed, those rims look great! I like how the rim was painted, but the center cap wasn't.... it's a nice touch.

Let me know how you like those tires. I'm getting a set for my girlfriend's Jeep.

Looks great. You won't be disappointed with the duratracs. If you do take em off road keep them around 20+ psi they tend to cut sidewalls any lower.

The rims were PC'ed up at Bast tire in Heidelburg, the copper was special order but mine were complete turn around in less than 8hrs! They were blasted, double baked, coated 100% all over and cleared. Cleaned up any oxidation with the alloy too for a super nice texture finish

I have ran these tires on the previous jeep I had ( for about 10K kms ). Previously on the pickup I used BFGoodrich Allterrain T/A's, they were not bad. Coming to this tire though , in my opinion, was night and day:

    - Quiet compared to the T/A's in retrospec the T/A's screamed on the highway, these humm
    - Traction is much better, I have seen reviews of issues with pickup's and the larger vehicles, but in the rain, on the jeep, very hard to break loose. Bring on the snow baby Not much mud
    - Ride is more solid, this becomes personal choice, less give obviously than street tires, but less squak on corners
    - I like the extra bead coverage as well
    - Pricing wasn't bad for them either, I would consider about middle of the road, and I had super amazing service at Beverly Tire on hwy 24 in Cambridge. NFI but they are jeep guys there

Very sharp... I like the looks!

If I was a Jeep, they'd have parted me out a LONG time ago.

The rims were done by Bast Tire in Heidelburg, they are dark metal grey, the PC guy there has it on his car for reference They were about $65/rim, it has clear coated as well. As for the rubber, call the great guys at Beverly Tire in Cambridge ( FoxMotorSport ), I cant recall the price since I bought them almost a year ago now.

BTW, they are very quiet in comparison for the BFG muds I had on my pickup. I also have a 2"BB to make the stance and tire fit. As for the speedo concerns, the speed is bang on according to the GPS system too :-)

Actually in the 1 foot snow covered parking lot I tried, great traction As for anywhere else we have not had enough snow yet to try further on the wj, but on the ZJ they were excellent last year.

did they mount the tires for you too??? how long did you have to leave the rims with them? I have been thinking about getting that done to my rims or just buying new ones.

Beverly un-mounted the tires, and I delivered them on a Saturday afternoon to Bast, so they were ready for PC first thing Monday morning, they were done by lunch. The WJ rims were done in a standard color too, which cut down on cost and time. In my opinion, unless you are doing hard core off-roading amd you like the like the form of the OE rims then I would recommend PC'ing.

    just my opinion

Hate to disappoint, neither set is black. The WJ's are dark gunmetal grey, the ZJ's are metallic copper.
