    Help...Out of Ideas...

First Ill give a brief description of what happened ...

last year check engine light came on ... i ignored it. The code spit out 02 sensors.
I drove it for about 6 mnths after the light came on not taking the 02 thing seriously...(i know i know lol )I then tried to drive it from Thunder bay to kitchener...02 sensors finally went about 6 hrs into the drive .. Terrible fuel economy and black smoke with terrible backfiring and missing.
In wawa i changed the 02 sensors and plugs. This helped enough to continue home but the hesitation and engine missing didnt stop.At that point I assumed that the cat converter had clogged from the carbon build up from running rich. I nursed the jeep back to kitchener where i had intended to install a cat converter.

Today I installed the new cat and it is still missing and minor backfiring under high acceleration or under engine load.
Im stumped??????? Could the new 02 sensors and plugs that were put in 1500 km ago be clogged with carbon again or could it be something else?
Has anyone experienced these symptoms with a faulty electronic ignition?
Im running out of patience and money here...lol

    thanx a ton
    Sink.

    Any help is greatly appreciated..

In the summer I had an issue with mine back firing and missing from time to time. it wasn't too bad so I just let it go. Then one day it rained and the engine light came on. The engine was driving really rough. It ended up being a plug wire. I went and bought a new set for about $28.00 and that's what it was. I'd check your plug wires and then maybe your timing.
