    Centre console

I finally got the pics off my phone, so i thought i would post my mini build of the centre console i built a lil while ago for my wife's YJ...

I started out with this and a 50 cal ammo box....

did some measuring and guestimations, cut the top section off, removed the handles from the remaining section.....

    dug out the big box-o-switches....

a lil test fitting of the switches...

add the B&M shifter.... and a test fitting.....

bolted the 50cal box to the rear, cut an access in the top of the box, bolted another 50cal lid that magically seemed to fit and hinge nicely.... a coat of gloss black by mistake....lol.

ground the handles of both 50cal lids.. and noticed the bullet stamping on the one lid. been looking at every 50cal box since to find another to no luck...

after a couple coats of semi gloss...

    end of part 1....

    part 2

add the shifter, some weather stripping to the edges of the cutout on top, and one of my avatar decals

bend up some flat stock for a rear mount, and a cut up hockey puck to use as a front mount, and here it sits for now

rear shot of the rear/base mount. jsut a tester fitting, not secured yet

ok.... one more pic since i dont have many in this thread...

so as it sits now, it needs to be wired up, and plans to add some padding and material to the top access lid, but that isnt going to happen untill the mrs makes the safari top later this year. The shifter also needs to be connected and properly setup, but that isnt happening untill we get the reman'd trans installed later this year as well.

I know it wasnt necessary for the blingin shifter, and all the switches and such.... but too bad.... i did it anyways.... lol.

    Thanks for reading...

    thank u sir!

i think as far as cost to build it goes, minus the shifter, it was only about $40 including switches.

I love it, nice a solid with no plastic. The red switches give a good fighter cockpit type feel.

    thanks for the compliments folks!

after the issue im running into with the disconnect switch in my waggy, i have a feeling i will have the same issue when i get into the wiring with the YJ. Im probably going to have to re-work the switch cluster, but have an idea to recess them into the console with a cover to protect from the elements. probably better that way incase mud gets flying, or a drink gets spilled on them , or one of the dogs gets jumpin around while driving and accidentally flips a switch off..

not a huge deal, but these are the joys of building something from scratch...lol
