Question Seafoam engine treatment and Hemi Tick!

Well, as most of you know I have a 2005 Dodge Ram 2500 4X4 with the 5.7L Hemi.
And guess what, I have the dreaded HEMI TICK!!!! Lately it has gotten worse due to the short trip driving I do now.
I have tried all kinds of engine treaments, Amsoil,Lucas but have been a little leary of dumping seafoam in my crankcase.
So, I took the plunge and finally did it. After about 100 kms of driving it has gotten much quieter. Will see how this goes.
Anyone else have the PIA noise?
I have also heard it can be an exhaust issue because of the stainless steel exhaust. The noise does go away after the engine has reached running temp.
Anyway, just interested in what other folks have done and if you ever tried seafoam in your crankcase?
WARNING! I am about to do something really fawking STUPID!!!!!!

I had a noisy lifter in a vw engine. Tried everything suggested and was about to tear into her and I tried seafoam in the crankcase. Literally 15 seconds and the noise was gone. I made a believer out of my old friend mechanic. Amazing stuff for something that's existed longer than I have

Mine does not have the drop from 8 to 4 cyl. Also this is not a new thing for Dodge V8 engine, especially the Hemi.

My 08 1500 hemi has it. Very slight but annoying( to me) tick. I can't hear it in the passenger compartment. It does it once the oil is warmed up a bit. I use 5w20( for the MDS) just figured it was the lighter oil or just a "HEMI" thing. You use 5w30 right?

I haven't tried any solutions to the problem as it still has powertrain warranty and the noise really doesn't warrant trying to solve it ..... yet.

Yeah I use the 5W30 and the noise pisses me off lol. Sounds like a fawkin sewing machine on start up, then as it warms up it goes away. After I finish with the seafoam in the crankcase I am going to switch to a synthetic oil in the hopes that quiets it down some.

it says you can leave it. I changed it after the noise was gone but mine was a stuck lifter.

I have always used Lucas oil products and got great results.
would you say this seafoam oil treatment is better than Lucas? or same idea?

Birdman - From what I understand, Seafoam is a cleaning agent that can be used to clean the intake, crankcase, and fuel system. When you pour it directly into the oil, IIRC you run it for a while, then change the oil; Lucas is an oil additive that you pour in to the oil and leave it there.

    HTH!

This is different from Lucas, this is a cleaning agent to remove the varnish from your internal engine parts
