what are the plans for the build? lift and tires? goin hardcore trail rig or making a fairly stockish daily driver?

there is some good builds on here to follow for some good ideas.

    Good luck with it!

    Awesome!

    We'd love to see pics...

If I was a Jeep, they'd have parted me out a LONG time ago.

Whatever the plans are always take lots of pictures. We love rebuilds around here. Lots of tech data available, more than a few VERY smart people on board too if you get stuck on something.

Frame rot is common on all four corners, and around the shock mounts. Tubs are reasonably easy to remove assuming the mounting bolts come loose. Do a search for "YJ tub removal" and you'll see exactly where they are. I recommend drilling holes above each of the captured bolts NOW and soaking them with penetrating fluid daily for a few days before you guys get to work. It'll take 1/2 hour now to drill the holes and could save you hours later having to cut open the floor and torch them out.

not sure what your budget is, but his fella has a frame and it would likely be a better starting point for your build than repairing a cheesed out one
