id skip the shackles if your going soa...that'll give ya 5" on its own with 33's and tube fenders you could keep your cog low. what day you wanna build? also is the body lift going in g or not? up top it says the body lift is out but its in the list at the bottom for later in the summer.

Shackles will only get used if I go with reverse shackle set-up which I am yet undecided about, otherwise just use the new bushings and bolts. The post on the bottom was the original, no body lift now, and forgot to include...both axles have Lockers !

timing depends on getting the JB-RSB ( Raised Steering Bracket ) or equivalent, because it requires 3 drill & tap holes in the knuckles so will want to get that done B4 the install etc.

now finding out about how many additional little other things are needed for such a lift, ( " if you're doing that, then you need this" is ringing in my ears ! ) still progressing to accumulate parts, hoping to be ready in a few weeks if all goes well.
probably take me that long to get the garage cleaned up anyway !

well... well... well....all signs pointed toward the carter carb SOB fix being best accomplished with a 4.2 to a 4.0 swap, just needed to find a good deal on an engine, perhaps someone on JK would have such a thing...holy cow there it is, and only 130K !!!...WHAT A MISTAKE, a costly lesson to be sure, but lesson learned...I'll never buy from anyone on this site again.
Don't get me wrong, it's not the site's fault, it's just that I foolishly expected better.

Man that's shitty... I know that you were looking to buy mine. And I'm sorry that you didn't get it. Maybe you wouldn't feel this pain you are now.

Don't hold it against everyone here. There are more good guys here than assholes. Maybe whomever you bought it from will fix this issue for you.
My latest project... Collection of Parts

Other stuff... Building a doubler, D300 Flip kit

What's wrong with the engine??? can it be fixed?

most guys on jk are great, contact the seller and see what they'll do

dropping in the 4.0, you didn't want the fuel injection???

Hey Mike, I sent you a PM, I have a free engine if you need one...it's ready to go in my trailer.

Or let me know what the engine issue is...I'll have some time over the Christmas break to help.

Sorry to you good sellers, I wasn't in the right state of mind to be spewing my wrath via the JK site, for that I am sorry.

thanks also those who made generous offers to help.

    I will try to explain myself a little better;
there are a lot of very knowledgable jeep people on this site, and a lot of people who will go way above and beyond to help out other jeep people, them I truly appaud !
I am not one of those mechanics, thus I am vulnerable, I guess my level of trust was skewed by the impression these good people had made on me.
So, by all means, every knowledgeable buyer & trustworthy seller I am very sorry to have caused harm. For my part, and my part ONLY, because I don't have the ability to know the good sellers from the bad, and can't rely simply on the fact that they are jeep people as the gauge of that, I personally, me alone, not advocating that anyone do as I do, will be sticking to paying the extra cost for new parts from reputable dealers whereby I will have recourse should the product not live up to it's promotion. Ball + home = me.

I'd love to know who did the swap for you too...

FAWK...for that kind of money you could have bought an early TJ that already had a 4L in it, then had a long arm kit and 35s tossed on...I'm sorry to say it, but you thought you were had with the last engine...if you really paid $6,000 for a 4L swap you paid WAY too much and YOU BEEN HAD!!!

You have to think about it, if a 4L swap was $6,000 I don't think many people would be doing them...

Sorry Mike, don't mean to come off as an ass on this one, but I gotta speak what I feel is the truth on this...

Now, the flipside, with the limited details provided in your last post, you may have had a lot of other work done and there may be more to the $6,000 than just an engine swap and my opinion could be unwarranted...but I would still say $6,000 is too much to spend on an 88 YJ...
