"The Duck" A ZJ Build Thread

So I fugured i would finally do a build thread for my ZJ. Started out as a well used 96 ZJ with a 4.0L and about 350,000km. this is what it looked like when i got it ( it might look familiar, because i bought it off of another JK member.

So luckily i had an extra 42RE laying around the shop fired er in and was reletivly good to go. New trans has a slight 2-3 shift issue im trying to resolve. Decided that while i had it in the shop it would be a good time to clean up the mess of wiring before i had a fire. Went to start the Jeep and WTF it wont start??? Did some investigating after retracing all my work and turned out some jackass wrapped wire strands around the blown PCM fuse rather than fix the problem. So I replaced the blown fuse and fixed the secondary O2 sensor wiring and boom, fired right up! Also figured it was a good time to pull off the goofy ass "flares", replace the hacked up fenders and give it a fresh coat of spray bomb love

The jeep had a 2"BB on it which of course is nowhere near enough... Enter Rough Country X-Series 4" Long Arm for ZJ

Had it out wheeling on the 2-4 weekend, and i would have to say it held up pretty well considering i was wheeling with 3 TJs locked front and rear on 37" tires.. nedless to say had to get tugged out a couple times, bent my steering, blew a trans mount, cut a tire, dented a couple rims... but all in all, a good time!!! just need to get some pix of it

So after about 1000km or so, pretty much all my "Flex Joints" are FAWK'D! Not too happy about that but R/C is sending me out a new set... Let's see how long these ones last

Looks good on the long arms, glad you went that route.

I am planning to hunt down an AW4 for when my 42RE shits the bed. I don't think the 42RE is worth putting the time or effort into.

Advance adapters has an adapter to swap a 700R4, or Turbo350/400. I think I might go that route instead of another jeep/MOPAR trans. But So far from what I been reading the 42RE isn't too bad of a transmission. Was actually able to find a full manual valve body for them, but can't find a stall converter yet. I hear it's a pretty big deal doing the AW4 swap, no?

guess im waaaaay over due for a lil update. it has been a pretty busy winter so far. Took the Heep off the road back in october and pretty much started the cutting process. off came the rocker panels, and in went some tubing and heavy guage sheetmetal, also did a boatside in the rear, rebuilt both bumpers, new Smittybilt XRC-10 winch... i should have no problem fitting a 37" tire on this thing now. ill just let the pix do the talking.

Finally got it all finished and sitting on a set of 35" mtrs... But now I have to sell it. Asking 3800 or best offer. As is. Its a fun jeep, but with a baby coming in may I won't have time for it and I really need the extra money.
