    RIP - DZL JEEP (Fred)

I've searched and can't find any mention of a Fred Sweetman, aka "DZL JEEP, who passed away on Saturday, May 8th.

Fred will likely be remembered for the big stinky black YJ , that if were unfortunate to follow could make you cough up a lung. Meetings at The Garage always included brews, burgers & hot dogs. He openly invited all Jeepers and made his garage & tools available for wrenching parties.

    His Jeep Kings signature read:

He who dies with the most toys wins!

God only made so many perfect jeeps, the rest he put round headlights on!

Fred, thank you for your friendship, your heckling and stinky fumes. You will be missed! RIP.

Ah man, what a way to start the day.

I lived 10 minutes away from grumpy, and he was always pretty good for letting me use his garage. He'd always complain the kids thought "DSL JEEP" meant a highspeed Jeep, so I told him to change the S to a Z. He sure gave the Miltion crew a home, and everyone was welcomed.

RIP Freddy, we'll see ya on the other side of the trail.

He will definitely be missed. He certainly was a grumpy old man with most people but never with me! Sad to hear of his passing.

No question, Fred was one of the good guys. Speedy and I saw him last year when we bought his Coke cooler and he seemed in great spirits, but did mention some health problems he had had, but made it seem as if it was no big deal.

Sad day for the Jeep community.

Found out last night, was shocked. Haven't seen him in a while, but can't help think about the pickled eggs and chilli in the garage. Was always good times, and that old diesel Jeep was a beast of a machine.

Fred, rest in piece old buddy, and remind God that square headlights were a grand idea.

nice pics Kuss - oh I remember that BBQ so well. I can't recall how many dozens of dogs I rolled over that grill! I never did get the pickle egg recipe but they were killer eggs!!

    I found a few pics...

Group parked in the field behind Fred's place after a run through 17th Sideroad - looks like Stubbs checking out Fred's stinky DZL

Hanging at The Garage - yup Fred with a L.E.D. in hand

Fred even thought of the kids occasionally, usually at Christmas when he arranged a special visit from Santa himself. Nice of Fred to hold Santa's L.E.D. too

Cheers Fred, we'll have one for the team!

Ah yes, the mighty DZL . The last time I met up with him was at a 101 event out on the rez a few years ago with Mud Rodent..... Alot of great memories of Fred and that hefty YJ. Probably one of the last who would take a case of LED in exchange for Jeep parts.
I am going to miss him.
Thanks for posting the notice and pictures Lindsey.
