    Geez Louise..........loud tires!

I was driving east on the 401 today heading back to Toronto from Milton and I was doing 100km in the middle lane and all of a sudden I heard this loud humming noise and I look in the side view mirror and a silver 4 dr JK was in the left lane doing about 120-130 and those tires were humming! I could hear this thing coming from about 100 ft behind me. It didn't sound like a transport truck that's why it caught my attention. I looked at the spare as it passed me and I think they were 33x 12.5 Goodyear MTRs, same size as my Pro Comp MT's but mine are nowhere near as loud as these tires were! I still have my soft top on and the stereo was on but I heard these tires clearly.
'02 TJ, 2" body lift, 2" coil spacers, 33"x12.5" Goodyear Duratracs, 15x8 Pro Comp matte black aluminum rims, D30/D35 regeared with 4.56 gears, Bushwacker Flat Fender Flares, Warn Rock Crawler Front Bumper, Poison Spyder Rocker Knockers, hprtech custom rear bumper with swing out tire carrier, 48" Hi-Lift, Hard Top, Soft Top, Safari, Wrap Around Windjammer, Tonneau and trail cover.

Naw, this guy bought a proper spare as he had aftermarket rims on the spare too. The rims were a little to "blingy" for me. Could have been Nitto Grapplers but the sidewalls didn't look as aggressive. It looked more like the Goodyear MTR Kevlars. Whatever they were those suckers hummed!

I think the best noise I've heard was some jackass in town in a lifted F350 running 35" (or so) Boggers down the highway at around 120.

Knew they were Boggers 'cuz they had no tread in the middle

I thought that was part of the appeal of bigger tires?

Size doesn't necessarily mean louder. Tread pattern is probably the biggest factor. I went from stock 31" BFG AT Duellers to the 31" Goodyear MTR and the noise difference was huge.

Running 32" MTR Kevlars, not super loud but also not quiet, they are not as loud as my Hercules Trail Diggers though........ could also have been inflated improperly? Mine run at 25 psi which gives a flat wear pattern.

My spare is a Micky Thopson Mtr with matching dick cepik rim. But the 4 on the ground are BFG KM2. With Dick cepik rims.

So dont go by the spare/ matching rims. Ive got 5 matching new rims. And a 50% spare. All are 35,s.

I still can't get over how loud they were. Top up, windows all the way up, stereo on at a decent level and I could still hear these things coming up behind me. LOL!

You've obviously never had British Bulldog trying to tail you on the hwy.

BTW, it all depends on wear. I rotated the stock Rubi tires for the first time at 50k the day beofre setting off for Florida, and in Ohio I still had truckers looking around to see what the hell was making that noise. They were back to normal by Atlanta.
