    Wagon for my daughter

Over the past month I have been putting together a custom wagon for my daughter. Thursday is her 3rd Birthday and I wanted to give her something special and cool.

Money is tight this year do to some cutbacks at work for both my wife and I. This project had to be cheap.

while browsing the net I found a pic of a cool wagon, kinda the hot rod look. I have a unncle who collects and sells junk, he is kinda just like the guys you see on pickers.

he found me a old radio flyer wagon (little redwagon) that some one put in the garbage.

Looked like this when I got it

I started mocking up a new frame with material I had in the garage from a past project.

I didn't really like the wheels and I only had 2, You might have seen my post looking for Go Kart wheels. A friend of mine was over one night and I old him what I was looking for. A few days later he called and told me he had something. He made a call to one of his customers and got me 4 sweet wheels from a Kart.

If you look close you will see 3 chrome screw heads. yep that is a bead lock. These are perfect

Next was tocome up with a front axle and some steering. I tried to go for the hot rod drop axle look. I think it turned out OK.

I went back and forth on what colour to paint it. In the end I decided to ask Savanna what she wanted. Right now purple is her fav so last night I made it purple.

I contacted a guy from the site who is known for making stickers. He made this up for me. Once the paint drys I will apply it to the side. The actual one will be white.

Now I need to figure out how to make it steer and craft up a pull handle. I really want to do a chrome pull with some kind of Hurst shifter handle but I am not sure if I wil be able to find one in time.

Here's where I'm at with mine, not a radio flyer but an old Henry Express. (radio flyer tub's are the way to go a little more sturdy)

Drop front and rear axles, 1-1/4" receiver in the back. The pull handle is going to pivot on the front axle and have linkage to the knuckles to turn the wheels.

Got to decided how to make it girly, i am thinking about painting it black then get it pin striped with pink, would also like to make a brass knuckle handle, but not sure how that will go over with the Mrs.
