I have D300 that has been flipped for sale if anyone is interested. All of the internal work is done, but the shifter rail mounting is not as nice as this one will be!!

    ^ I'll take that as a compliment.

Out of curiosity. How much would you want for the flipped 300?

The the machining is finally done. Just need to tear into the D300 and move the shift rails to their new location. Also picked up the bushings required today as well as the rest of the required hardware.

    And

I'll keep posting pictures as I move along. Hope it's worth while information.

First fitting tonight. And I see a small area that will need to have attention paid to it.

Spent sometime in the shop today. It was overdue.

    Progress to date.

After the first fitting it was noticed that there was a minor interference

    Repaired

So it's time to tear into this and get the shift forks and rails out.

    Remove the yolks

Start with the intermediate shaft. Remember that there are 48 needle bearings. They must ALL go back in so care to not lose any.

Then time to remove the shift rails. You will have to remove the set screws in the forks before being able to remove the shift rails.

    And then the shift forks.

    And disassembled.

Since the shift rails are being moved to the top it was time to remove the two holes from the existing location.

    Some machining and plugs.

And then after some welding and grinding.
    Gone.

Vent tube location picked and used the original fill hole as the drain.

    Then reassembled the tcase

Notice the ginding on the one shift fork. Placed for clearance of the cover.

    Installed into the jeep...

**** note I appologize for any quirky stuff going on with my pictures.... there seems to be some wierd thing going on with this thread that I hope I have rectified. ****
