I've got a few new options sitting here beside me.
I'll post up more pics after I see how they work tomorrow.

So with a big thanks to Eating Spam I bought myself a nice wrapped wire wheel and took that to the frame today! Looking alright!

Then I cleaned up the short-side of the 60. Hacking off the cast is a slow process.

Finally I gave the rest of the 60 a brief wire wheel treatment as well.

There is a spot on the frame that was hidden under the rear control arm bracket that will need a small amount of work to improve it's condition. Not wholly unexpected and nothing I can't handle with my new toy.
    Next step is hopefully welding.

So I got a little bit more done this week. Unfortunatly my welder couldn't get wired up until today so while I ran some practice beads on some scrap I haven't done any welding on the Jeep yet. What I did get done was strip the rear completely of brackets and buckets and do a more thorough cleaning job of the rear frame area. Also got the 14bolt home and rolled the HPD60 under the truck.

Next I do have to get the gas tank out, the rear 4-link brackets welded on, patch that minor hole I have in the frame, and the start mocking up control arms. The 14bolt should have all the brackets off of it next week and cleaned up and hopefully maybe the TMR Customs truss/pinion guard welded on there too.
I have decided that single adjustable Johnny Joint/Bushing control arms will work for me in the rear.

So I got a little done this week but alas I found even MORE to do. Bad news first....it would appear the frame is worse than I though. It requires more welding that I thought it would. I am, to say the least, extremely disappointed. It feels like a HUGE hurdle to me but in reality I know it isn't as bad as I think. I patched the frame rot on the drivers side rear area. When welding that on I noticed that it goes further down the frame than I thought. More patching it required for that. Further to that the transfercase skidplate mount bolts are all broken free and turning inside the frame. That means I need to at the very least open the frame up and get new nuts on there...however in reality I know that means there will be cutting/patching to be done there as well. Some progress pics for now:

    Cleaned up the 14 bolt:

Got the stock tank out of the way:

So onwards and upwards is the only way to go on this. It sucks because if I didn't have all these frame issues to take care of I could have my rear control arm brackets on and the axle pretty much mocked up.

Oh and as always a BIG BIG thanks to Tim and Mike @ TMRCustoms for the prices on the tube/johnnies/bushings and of course advice. Also thanks to EatingSpam for his advice as well.

So I hacked away a very little bit this week.
Got the 14 bolt completely cleaned up and ready to weld on.
Found more cancer on the fame and ordered/received my frame repair plates. Going to completely cut out and replace the frame under the transfer case skid from the stock front control arm location to the rear stock control arm location. Major pain in the ass, huge bummer, I'm pretty pissed off but what can ya do....it is what it is at this point. Oh...got my MiG setup on gas also....much nicer welds for sure...so...more to come in the next little while as usual.
I'm going to grab some sleep and try NOT to have nightmares where I drown in a pool of rust that has fallen off of my "Jeep".

    Yikes! Lot's of work...

Too bad you couldn't have taken my mint TJ frame if I had already had the tube swapped over to the LJ frame.

Chrysler has quit making the TJ, released the JK and had a few years of production since Bio went "unsupervised" lol

Don't let that happen to you

On the Roark order thing, mine showed up within a week, 40 flaps, 10 or 20 cut offs, Fiberglass welding blanket, two sets of calipers and a Dewalt Grinder. At my door for just around 200 I think it was

    PROGRESS WONDERFUL PROGRESS!!!!

Picked up a 75%/25% mix with a tank for my MiG....what a difference it makes compared to flux core!
Also ordered some frame patches from "Auto Rust Technicians"....the patches slip over the current rusty spots and run from the stock front control arm mounts to the stock rear control arm mounts. New welded nuts for the transfer case skidplate included.

So......I cut out the bottom of the passenger frame rail....what a bitch....6 cut off wheels later I had this:

I couldn't believe the pile of shit that cleaned out of the rails:

Fit the new rails on and burned em on.....I am not a pretty welder but they are strong welds!

With that done I fit the TMR Customs 14bolt truss/pinion guard to the 14bolt! Drilling 0.5" mild steel sucks the big one! I challenge a rock to attempt to mess with my pinion now....I dare it!

Cleaned the 14bolt tubes up.....going to burn the truss on tomorrow hopefully!

So I have to do the driver side frame rail tomorrow....should be chilly out unfortunately...still need to patch the rear frame arch on the passenger side...then that is it for frame repairs...everything else is solid and I am hoping that keep it out of the winter will keep it that way!
