Frame stiffeners! The 2 doors are weak because they lack the extra set of door pillars the 4 doors have. Check for cracks even on stock rigs in the door jambs.

Yup, but you can easily stiffen it, and 2dr you can cut more out closer to the rear doors... it must be a 97 or 98?

    5spd or auto 231 or 242?

    I love the XJ's!

The two-doors are fun, and have that sleek look; as sleek as you can get for a shoebox. I had a 2-door 1991 XJ, (my first Jeep BTW) and miss it still.

Good luck on the build-up, and I look forward to seeing it progress!

If I was a Jeep, they'd have parted me out a LONG time ago.

I'm a proud member of SOXJA ask me why!

    Krawlerz team member too!

I'm diggin it. I've owned/own a few two door xj's. I know that most 5-speed came with 3.07 diff gears unlets its a 2.5 litre. Just a word of caution, with 33's she's gonna be a dog on the street with those gears, and no tourque converter to help. clutch will suffer IMO. 31's would be my max on those gears with 5-speed. 33's + 5-speed = 4.10's for stockish road performance.

I miss my XJ every day, and would like to grab one like yours before they really start drying up on the market. This Cash for clunkers has deffinatly effected the amount of late model xj's out there.

Cant wait to see what you finish off with.
