    97 XJ Build

Ive been doing alot to my jeep recently so i decided to start a build thread to track the progress and get some input/ feedback from you guys. i Started off with this 4L 4 door cherokee sport, with UpCountry package. Heres some pics of the things ive done so far.

this was what it looked like about a month before i started the transformation. I had taken off the body trim and fender flares.

I lined the bottom of the body with Bedliner for some added protection

I looked around at all kinds of bumpers from the big brand name companies and it was all out of my price range ATM, so my dad and I decided to just go ahead and build one. This is the progress in it so far.

just getting started guys, dont get your panties in a bunch quite yet ! lol

As the bumper was coming together I didn't dig the look of the open front crossmember in behind the bumper so I made a cover plate that bolts on to the crossmember brackets.

So I wanted to Re finish my rear bumper to make it all purdy and such. I went and took off the drivers side plastic bumper guard to find the body still in excellent condition and no rust ! I proceeded with the other side to find this :O looks like I'll be adding some body work to this months agenda lol

Picked up these aluminum rims and 31x10.5 tires off a 2003 ford ranger from a guy in town for 250$ . went to put them on the jeep and the hub is a hair too big for the rim to fit on nicely. So tomorrow ima break out the dremel and sand down the inside of the "hub hole? " lol so they'll fit on.

Just getting a ADJ trackbar, 6" dropped pitman arm, and HD tie rod for now, possibly fit some quick disco's in there.

    Nice work!

How does she ride and drive with the lift?

If I was a Jeep, they'd have parted me out a LONG time ago.

Today I'm just doing some minor things to the jeep. I have to replace a headlight, and a wiper blade. Gunna clean out the inside and put some more Christmas light on her lol.

So I've cut my rear quarters due to rotting out. I have yet to welding a piece of plate to close up the hole. I also trimmed my front fenders to make room for the new shoes (33x12.5" Mickey thompson MTZ's on Cragar soft 8's). I've replaced upper and lower ball joints aswell as driveshaft u joints. I picked up some clear signal lenses and side markers and made some cut out flares from my stock set laying around. Ive also started work on rear tubular bumper, but the project has been put on hold due to figuring out what's cause my death wobble. I ordered RE's Extreme Duty adj. trackbar, hoping it'll solve the problem ( old trackbar bushings are FUBAR lol) anyways here is how she sits to this date. What do you guys think ?

She looks gorgeous! Much better with the new rims and tires (to me anyways) I'd like to know what you did to your flares to modify them and still have them fit. When I trimmed mine (94xj) the flares weren't even remotely close to fitting afterwards. I don't know if there is a size difference between the old and new body styles? But anyways, nice looking XJ!
