    Scottos *( YJ

Scotto's Heep - It's an 89 YJ with a SBC 350 in it. Running a TH350 tranny. I don't think I've ever posted anything on fixing it, and since I took some pics, I thought I would! Why *( in the title? cause *( is 89 with a shift. Not trying to be gay, it just happened by mistake and I decided to keep the stupid thing.)

Anyway, with the driver seat leaning on some crazy angle as the floor rotted out, it was time to cut and rebuild.

    The ugly:

    The getting better:

It says DO NOT WELD! in the first pic as the fuel line is right under that seam, and I didn't want to get all stupid and weld it up while in place. We're going back to the original fire red interior... Green on the outside. And some black and white that I am too lazy to fix. We'll get to that later. In the meantime, we got this:

Still a few holes, but we're getting there.

And now we have a floor! I returned to the original fire engine red that was the colour back in '89. It's been green, black, blue, purple, beige... Dirt and grease for a while. I'm pretty pleased with it. Nice and solid again. Only two coats of paint so far. Two more to go.

Nice job; I have to do the same thing to mine this winter. What kind of metal did you use for the floor and where did you get it? Also what kind of paint is that?

Sorry. I never saw your post. I just used sheet metal from Crappy Tire - zinc coated but since I was welding outside I figured it was OK. The paint is weather shield rust coat.

If you're welding in your garage wear a respirator or don't use zinc coated sheet metal. Destroys your central nervous system.
