Mud Taxi to Wee beastie transformation!

The plunge has been taken. Purchased a 1980 CJ 7. Jeep came with 4" lift & hopelessly cracked 33's. Powered by a carbureted GM 305 mated to a TH400 and a Dana 300 turning stock axles. So far it's been a lot of electrical fiddling, a new set of 33 X 12,5 hercules, a nused hardtop (YES< NO MORE TARPING THE DARN THING EACH EVENING), racing seats along with the fabrication of mounts for them, four point harnesses and a lot of driving to pick a matched set of D44 & D30 with 4.10 gears. installation on those last items is up and comming. Pics of of the Wee Bestie in its original "Mud Taxi" purchase state, of its state after being certified road worthy (after a week's worth of 8 hour days patching holes and adjusting and bleeding brakes and working on electrical gremlins and new tires....and so forth) and what we hope the finished jeep will look like will hopefuly be posted soon. Currently experiencing diificulties uploading them.:banghead: Future plans include a custom dash, much needed extra fuel on board, bed-liner on the inside and a fresh coat of paint or whatever it takes to cover the yellow and old Mud Taxi decals.

Thank you for the useful "positive" input. I am quite aware that the previous post was lacking and there really was no need to state the obvious. Way to make the newbie feel welcome!!

But in any case, technical issues have been (obviously) resolved and here are the pics:

An finaly, one idea of the finished jeep (obviously a bad photoshop, no need to post the obvious please)

Further pics to come as work progresses. Wife and I look forward to your comments and suggestions.

Nice. Hard to believe someone would really put taxi decals on their Jeep. Weird. Looks like you got a good project ahead of you. Post up some pics of the interior, if you don't mind. Like to see inside it.

And I doubt Noltz was trying to be a jerk - he just posted up what we all post up w/o thinking too hard.

One thing you can do to make the pics work better here (took me a bit to figure this out) is use Photobucket (or some such thing). Load your pics to their site, then link it from here to there using the direct link on Photobucket as the URL for the IMG on here... It's basically the same buttons you clicked to load your pics, but instead of loading from your computer, it loads from the URL. Magically, the pics will embed and be bigger.

    Welcome to JK!

    Welcome to Jeepkings!

It sounds like your Jeep will be a seriously sweet ride after you get all of the mods you mentioned done. Are you planning on keeping the 305? I hear they can be pretty good motors, they just get overshadowed by their bigger (350) brothers.

The 'final' pic looks pretty unique! *L* Nobody will miss it, and I betcha it'll turn a lot of heads.

If I was a Jeep, they'd have parted me out a LONG time ago.

No problem Noltz. Easy to work on, and parts are cheap: $27 + 1/2 hour = one new fuel pump. Two things worth laughing at though 1- kid behind the counter had never seen a mechanical fuel pump before...2- box exterior says to disconnect positive then drain and drop fuel tank???? Me thinks they just have a generic box for fuel pumps both old and new LOL Sometimes following the instructions really doesn't pay off!

Pics of interior coming when the sun shines tomorrow.

ANyone have suggestions for relatively cheap and very useful mods?
