    tranny noise please help asap

    i swaped my 89 b10 trans and 89 4.2 for a 79 4.2 and tf 999
the tranny makes noise like theres loose bolts in the flex plate but its the sheild hitting bolts, only when in gear not park.
ive taken the plate out and no noise in park or gear.
am i missing something? ive even tried to bend the plate sometimes its better sometimes its worse.
could the flex plate be bent?
does a flex plate off a 4.0 auto work?

I have same issue... Running a T150 tranny (3 spd) w/ Dana 20 t-case in my ’79 CJ-7.... However I only get that sound in 3rd gear. I figured bearings in the tranny were shot and time for a replacement. Would be happy to hear of a simpler fix.

P.S. Anyone have a T150 kicking around that you want to sell?

I measured the distance between motor and flex plate last night and its 3/8"
I put the standard fly wheel on the old motor and its 3/4"
    I think I may make a spacer

Muddywaters, I hope the spacer fixes the noise for you. Thanks for the tip on the TH400, good tranny, but prefer to stick with the standard tranny for now, would also mean new drive shaft as the TH400 is quite a bit longer than the T150.

    Exheep, PM sent re T150.

    Sorry to hijack thread.
