The Marc Diab Project: Honouring a Canadian HERO - discussion thread

Trooper Marc Diab Memorial Jeep Restoration Project

Trooper Marc Diab was member of the Royal Canadian Dragoons based at CFB Petawawa. Marc was an avid Jeeper and a member of JeepKings.ca. On March 8, 2009,
while on patrol in Shah Wali Kot district, Kandahar province, Marc made the ultimate sacrifice when the armoured vehicle he was riding in was hit by an Improvised Explosive Device.

Prior to leaving for his tour in Afghanistan, Marc made a series of videos for his loved ones titled “See You Tomorrow”
in case he did not come home alive. One of these videos included Marc talking about his plans for his Jeep.

Over the next number of months we will be performing a complete rebuild and modification of Marc’s
1998 Jeep TJ to represent what Marc wanted his Jeep to be and to make Marc’s wishes come true.

Once the project is complete, the Jeep will be used as a show vehicle in parades and ceremonies honouring those who serve and served with the Canadian Armed Forces,
as well as being on display at Madameek, a Lebanese restaurant opened in memory of Marc with locations in both Petawawa and Pembroke.

There is going to be quite a bit to do, most of the details will stay under wraps for now, but I will say that one of Marc's wishes were for his Jeep to ride on 38" tires.

Jeep looks in good shape. Sponsors or is JK and mods fronting the bill?

The Jeep is in AMAZING shape.

    98 base model with 2.5L 5speed...it does have A/C...LOL...

If I remember correctly, 90,000ish KM on it, no signs of rust (not even under the carpets)...there is some interior wear, but that is to be expected on a 14 year old Jeep.

As for how much and who is footing the bill, that is not a discussion that will be addressed at this time. All I am going to say is the parts list is fairly extensive.

Thanks so much Sean. You are awesome. This first stage is coming together very quick for parts. Exactly what I was hoping for an ultimately expected from the JeepKings membership. It never ceases to amaze me what can be done through this site when everybody gets behind a cause.

A big thank you to an anonymous doner who has graciously donated some steering parts for use on the Jeep. He even said if they are not going to work for our needs that they could be sold to put some money in the build fund.

A heads up that a donation bar will pop up at the top of the forum in the next few days so people who wish to make monetary donations are able to do so.

ok, so i found this, http://toronto.kijiji.ca/c-cars-vehi...AdIdZ409654815

i emailed the guy, and he says for the 500$ he is asking for a 4.0L with 128k on it, it also includes harness, computer, chipped keys, everything with the engine. i have 100$ to put towards this. if 4 other people are willing to help, and can commit to this, i think we may have a winner. can anyone chime in with 4.0L experience and maybe a list of what is required from the donor tj? if anyone see's something i dont here as to why this wont work, please also explain, so i know what to look around for.
    thanx.

I have all those steering parts in my car now, I'll either give them to Bullwinkle at our BOD meeting or if someone gives me an address I can drop them on Sept 21st as I am heading to Stoney Creek that weekend.
