Nice lookin' jeep... half doors kick ass. Where did you get your's color matched? What hardware do you have to use them? Is there some sort of door surround stuff etc.?

Treat them like any other door. Same hinges. Same paddles. Just missing the upper half (replaced by soft uppers). Slip on, adjust, enjoy

Got these ones off a wrecked 99 TJ in PA with the same paint code (PEA - chilli pepper red) through eBay. Cost a pretty penny but in the long run to get a set that wasn't already colour matched would have cost more to paint etc... And then the oxidation difference would have been obvious. Bonus they came with keys and mirrors.

budget option B: used element high rock doors with enclosures from bestop. Any bestop soft upper frame will fit (I have tested this) with minor adjustments. They usually show up on eBay for +/- 250$ beat up and in need for paint.

Well.... the TJ is all buttoned up with full doors and hard-top for the winter. This is where the wrenching stops for now until something else breaks

    Recent updates:

    * Swapped out my indicator switch only to find it was just a loose connection at the plug causing the light seizures.... anyone need a good used switch for their 97-00?
    * AC is now installedish... just waiting on the compressor manifold to arrive so I can run the remaining lines - stupid 99 and its unique to year compressor

    Remaining todo:
    * Might need to swap the key cylinder since I seemed to have lost my steering lock - it was there before when I did the ball joints.... maybe a good idea to rekey anyhow given there are prolly keys out there in other's posession
    * Need to tweak the windshield.... seems previous owner hit something with the upper right corner so the hard top wont line up right - makes a horrid howling and requires a stupid T50key
    * Still sort out the speed limit issue and leaky housing - chrysler can deal with that one since they touched it last
    * RUST CONTROL!!!!!!!
    * Carpet-line inside of hard-top... anyone know where to find that grey pre-adhesied speakerbox carpet stuff?

Winter plan is to drive this to Job B while I continue to drive my Folvo to job A

    Did an oops today....

The passenger side hinge on my hard-top turned to dust so I went to find another hard-top and bought another Jeep... same colour, same year, same lack of AC (for now) AND same Auto/4.0 combo too!

Now I have something to compare to and so far it seems I might be swapping drivetrain between the two as the new aquisition does NOT drop on the driver side when shifted to reverse. Just need to find a place to stash one while I wait for warmer weather

    Project Relapse - TJ edition

What a gorgeous day! Took advantage of the weather and swapped out the centre console for one from a 60th anniversary edition with factory subwoofer. Had to drill new holes in the tub where the rear cupholders now live and use two bolts to plug up two other holes where the old bin mounted but it went in without a hitch (except spilling my hot cocoa onto my jacket that was lying on my buddy's truck bed that I was using as a work surface).

Still need to wire it up but I took quite a length of harness with it when pulling from the donor as well as the radio end so if Im not mistaken I just gotta match colours when splicing into the rear speaker feeds and hook up the power antenna feed and ground to the beast. That will be Monday's game as I still gotta hook up power to my CB that I mounted to the smittybilt overhead console today.

Re: Project Relapse - TJ edition

Got a tip from a guy about cleaning interior plastics one time. Use a Mr clean magic eraser. Strips everything out of all the little cracks in no time at all. I tried it on my jeep that was owned by a chain smoker, looked brand new everywhere I used it and turned the water a disgusting black.

Ah yes. I did that to every hard surface in the focus I flipped for this. Only down side is when the pads disintegrate against the textured plastic and little crumbs end up everywhere.

Picked up the cushion on Thursday before a three night stint. They couldn't colour match but got damn close for staying in my budget. I slipped in the low-voltage 12v hot pad between the cover and cushion and will be running the wires with the seatbelt ones up to the console where I've yet to decide where the switch will go. I only got the one heat pad. Wish I knew where the rest went cause I could use one for my back too.

    Cruise control!!!

Did the swap in 2.25h. Initially it was a plan to install the subwoofer console but quickly ended up at the steering wheel. Obviously the woofer is still not wired up. Typical ADHD at its best.

Finally wired up the factory sub-console today. Seems that after 50% volume all the speakers go into distortion. But if I change the balance from center it isnt so bad (either left, right, front, or rear by greater than 60%).... looks like I need an amp. Funny since Im using a factory subwoofer and factory front speakers.
