    Bumper height

Not that I personally need this answered but my buddy has a lifted 99 dodge 1500. Is there a law in Ontario for bumper height? He has a body lift and is thinking about relocating the bumper a few inches higher, but this will leave his hitch a few inches lower, could he be ticketed for this? And is bumper height rated by GVWR?

In a nutshell, I have never seen or heard of any "bumper height" law in Ontario..... there is however, a federal requirement for the placement of the required lamps.

I have copied and pasted the requirement tables (2 different classes) from the Transport Canada Technical Standards Document 108.

Headlights have to remain at pretty much 54" at the highest.

    Hope this helps!

^ those images are a little tough to read...just for clarification, you say 54" high...that is 4.5 feet, I don't see the average vehicle having lights that high, so I am guessing this is a maximum height?

    Is there a minimum height?

Yeah sorry about that, if anyone can't read them, they are from the Technical Standards Document 108 (Transport Canada). I edited my original post as it might have been misleading, you are correct, that is a maximum height. 22" is the minimum height.

Here is a link to the PDF... http://www.tc.gc.ca/media/documents/...1080rev4_e.pdf

    Hope that clears it up!

Where on the light is that measurement taken? Bottom edge, center, or highest point?

Taken from the document linked above:

Height above road surface measured from center of item on vehicle at curb weight

    Hope this helps...
