Methinks that bump on the head at Ardbeg affected you,
I thought two Dana 30's were the same as one Dana 60,
    so I went that route...

    Shakedown / retightening this weekend,
refurbished 4:10 axles with a Lockrite in the front and the 4" Zone lift are both installed.

    Thanks to all that helped,
Jimmy, Herve, The Chad, Eddie and especially Curt, owe you large buddy!

Still getting used to the changes,
going from undergeared at 3.07 to locked and overgeared at 4:10 is taking some time.
Speedo is way out of whack, and my clock spring in steering column has a mind of its own,
sometimes the turn signal goes off after the turn is completed, sometimes it does not.
Steering wheel is pointed at 5 oclock, I'm hoping that returning it to 12 oclock, will retension the spring,
and return this function, fingers crossed.

Oil pan skid was removed as per installation instructions for the lift,
gotta look at notching it and reinstalling at a later date.

All my buddies got belly up skids from Staangs,
I got a skid plate lowering kit/spacers with the lift kit (for pinion angle), looks goofy to me,
and is already on my list of changes for the future.

Stock skid plate was bent and twisted,
no idea how that could have happened, this was notched to allow some play around the driveshaft.

My main concern is I'm already driving around in 4th gear in the city, will there be enough gears for the highway?
Has anyone else done the 4:10 axle swap in their tj and have first hand knowledge about this?

I'm already looking for 33" tires,
feel free to post up if you have some good used/new ones for sale.

    More updates soon...

Looks good Billy, I have to see the polish on that turdy before you get it dirty. I think you will be OK on they highway... every Rubicon has 4.10s and 31s stock. I run a shade over 2000 rpm with the auto.

Hahaha, Dynatrac was a joke...clearly. It's for another buddy. The yellow submarine put up a pretty good fight and threw some curve balls but all in all turned out good. But what's to expect with axles that have been laying outside for a couple years and a 12 year old jeep. Pretty good lift for the money i'd say! Looks awesome Billy and some new to you meats will top it right off. Clean it up this weekend and lets go wheelin!

4.10s for me and yes, there is plenty of gears for the highway. Your RPMs will be higher, but you should still be able to go faster than you're comfortable. What year is your TJ? Manual or Auto?

    Thanks for posting guys,
I understand that stock Rubi's come with 4:10's and both yours are good for the highway,
but, your transfercases are also different, this will have a big effect, apples to oranges methinks,

was hoping to get some feedback from others that have swapped 4:10 axles, (not just gears in dif.)
surely I'm not the first to have done this, anyone? Beuller?

Joe - mine is/was a 2000 TJ Sport with stick, I6 with 3:07 on 28" tires (when it was stock)

Billy, my TJ is a 2000 and was 3.07 geared with 5speed tranny(exact same as yours) and I switched to the 4.11's. I ran the 3.07's with 33's for a few months and had no 5th gear. Max speed was probably 90km/h. I switched to the 4.11's and got 5th gear back. I've gotten it up to 130km/h but honestly don't like to go much passed the speed limit on the highways with my Jeep.
To sum it up..... You will be fine, just don't drive it like a racecar anymore, it's got a higher center of gravity and weaving in and out of traffic should now be avoided lol

Do you find your engine revving higher now?
What did you do for your speedo?

Hey billy... The transfer case won't make any difference when your in High gear as it is 1:1 ratio. Low range is where the rubicon tcase is different .

But iirc the rubicon has a 6speed gearbox which makes the difference vs your 5 speed.

    http://www.manoian.net/jeep/gear_ratio_calculator.html

This calculator says that you will be running About 2300. Rpm at highway speeds on your 31's.
My latest project... Collection of Parts

Other stuff... Building a doubler, D300 Flip kit
