    Will a TJ 4.0 Swap into a YJ ?

After hydrolocking my engine on the weekend and bending / Breaking some internals I need to decide on a path forward. I don't really want to write off this summer with a big project like a swap to a V8 or stroked motor and would rather just get mobile again, besides I had no complaints with the 4.0 HO before Saturday.

So the question is: Would the 4.0 out of a TJ mount in the YJ? Basically if the Block/head bolt patterns are the same could I just swing my accessories over to the new block or are there more significant differences that would have to be worked out?

Vehicle is a 91 YJ 4.0 L HO with Std transmission.

IIRC 97-99 without issue. 2000+ is DIS but I think even those can be retrofitted.

    '91 Frankenheep Edition. 4.0, 4" BDS, Richmond 8.8, 35" KM2's, Titan 12k, ... gone.
    '95 4Runner SR5. Air-Lift bags, OBA & 8K Winch, DD... gone.

    Thanks Noltz

So the Block itself should be a bolt in (same engine mount locations etc)?

If that's the case then it should just be the head to worry about. Ideally the ports and mounting are the same in which case the 91 manifolds will attach. If they are different then perhaps the 91 head could be used (assuming the hydrolock only took out the botton end as it typically does)....hmmm

well i went the other way about 4 years ago with a 94 YJ engine into my 97 TJ with minimal issues. had to swap over the fan tensioner to clear the thermostat if i recall, but otherwise was a direct swap and has worked like a dream
