    License plate modification

And mine are old 3 number-3 letter plates. Had them since '95 and can't be bothered with trying to remember a new plate.

I don't remember reading anything about rust. That doesn't mean its not possible. Personally, I haven't had any actually rust on me, but perhaps a trip to your local MTO office and I'm sure they'd be able to let you know.

    Great thread!

I thought the plate paint was special (reflective?) and we were not allowed to repaint them. ON OFFroad, is paint touch up or repainting the plates permitted?

Technically speaking, no. In post #6 where I quote sec 12(1)(a) of the HTA, it COULD be considered "altering" a number plate. I emphasize the word "could".

    Hope this helps!

    Sec 13

Number plate to be kept clean

    (2) Every number plate shall be kept free from dirt and obstruction and shall be affixed so that the entire number plate, including the numbers, is plainly visible at all times, and the view of the number plate shall not be obscured or obstructed by spare tires, bumper bars, any part of the vehicle, any attachments to the vehicle or the load carried. 1994, c. 27, s. 138 (7).

That little tidbit seems to have been added to the books about a year after the 407 was opened.....
