    Lights and plate required for log splitters

    Went to pick up a log splitter with a buddy last night at PA and as we were towing it behind his truck I asked the question were lghts and a plate required.
    Due to the size of it, the truck lighs were visiable and he is going to bring it up north in the back of the truck because the tire would likely overheat.
    Once up north we will be moving it around locally back and forth to friends on the cottage road.
    Just wondering how a log splitter is classified? Thanks

    The log splitter would likely not fall under the definition of "trailer" (see below) and would therefore not have the same requirements regarding plate and lights.

    trailer

    “trailer” means a vehicle that is at any time drawn upon a highway by a motor vehicle, except an implement of husbandry, a mobile home, another motor vehicle or any device or apparatus not designed to transport persons or property, temporarily drawn, propelled or moved upon such highway, and except a side car attached to a motorcycle, and shall be considered a separate vehicle and not part of the motor vehicle by which it is drawn;

    Hope this helps!
