    Jeep Camaraderie

The thread in the trail run section about rescuing the guys who were stuck after camp NL made me think I should post something up.

2 weekends ago I attempted to drive my YJ to Midland. Taking the back way from Ingersoll winding through the country side to Fergus I passed numerous jeeps, got some waves and head nods.

Once in Fergus I stopped for a coffee, and to warm up ( it was a chilly morning and im in a YJ ). As I went to leave Tim Hos in fergus, my brake pedal went to the floor. A brake line had come out of the clip and rubbed against the mount and split. Luckily its a rear line and CTC is right there. Fixed it up in the parking lot and decided I should head back to Ingersoll as I was nervous of another line.

On the way back to Ingersoll on 124 ( hespler rd ) between Cambridge and Guelph my jeep started making a noise like nuts and bolts rattling in a pop can. I pulled off right away as I thought for sure it was the 4.3L giving up the gusto.

As I sat on the side of the road, many many many modded TJs, JKs and JKUs all cruised by me sitting there, hood up. NOT ONE stopped to see if they could help me out. My family was on thier way to pick me up ( coming from Midland as they were at the cottage ).

If I see a Jeep Wrangler of any generation broke on the side of the road, I always stop, even if its just to offer my cell phone, a tow, tools or moral support. I always thought it was one of those " jeep things".

Turns out, once another set of eyes got there, and i started the jeep a rib of the fan belt was hitting the inner fender as it went around, something that took a couple of eyes to see. a quick snip and off running I was again after sitting for 3 hours watching countless Jeeps drive by.

Im happy to see there is some camaraderie left in some areas. And ill keep up my due dillegance to help a jeeper stuck whenever I can.

Thoughts, experiance? Maybe you drove by me???

hey dudeski i dont know how long you been in the jeep game
but the longer the more you'll see that some people just use jeeps for a
car. to them its just another veichle. dont let it get you down,
not everyone wheels not everyone is on jeepkings.
lower your expectations to avoid dissappoinment.

A little chinese man said it best..... "Just because I own a jeep doen't mean I have to like you".
There are lots of turds that just drive lifted mall crawlers to look the part. usually if I wave and I don't get one back, it quickly turns to the bird.

If I see another Jeeper (any vehicle for that matter) anywhere hood up, or if it even looks like they could use a hand I always stop and see if I can help. I just boosted a tj at the st thomas hospital a few weeks ago.

So If you see a blue Jk unlimited with smittybuilt sidesteps (only mod at the moment) on the side of the road, please stop!

I don't stop for every vehicle. If it is a Jeep of any kind on the side of the road and somebody is with it I will stop and make sure they are good.

Saw two on the way to/from the shop this week, one was there on my way home one day the other was there on way to and from on two consecutive days. Each time nobody was around so I didn't stop.

When I am at home I will stop for any/every vehicle in the winter. Up there you could easy get smoked by a plow during a storm. Another issue is the total possibility of having your vehicle snowed in on the side of a road in an hour (less sometimes).

However, as has already been said, just cause you own a Jeep doesn't mean I have to be your friend or even like you for that matter. Hell, I can think of a bunch of people on here that don't like me, because I'm an asshole, a real ****in asshole, A-S-S-H-O-L-E, everybody, A-S-S-H-O-L-E!

Plus, if I stop to help, you will probably think I am going to eat your for my mid-afternoon snack.

Funny you bring this up. I was walking my dog last week and a lifted TJ drove by and pulled into an empty church parking lot. Next thing I see is the hood up and driver looking under the jeep. I walked over, said hello and asked if I could help. Turned out he has a small rad leak that comes and goes and was just checking it before driving onto his newly paved driveway.
I stop when I can for any vehicle but definitely stop for a Jeep in help(as I am more familiar with it)

I've only stopped once as I've only had the opportunity once. I even pulled a u turn. I was in my truck and a yj was parked in the lot n next to my work with a blown rad. He needed nothing as a family member was travelling the same direction but left late.

If I see someone I think I can help I'll stop.

If I see a hood up I will generally stop regardless of vehicle.

I had a zj stop to help me in the cursed town of shelburne. He even loaned me tools to make it to lugz where I was welcomed into their home while we wrenched. Mud Dawg even insisted on helping at 1 am after a long shift at work.

I suggest you post up here when you are broken down and help will be offered. I have offered to drive hours to help others and have driven parts hours to help.

The soccer moms and middle aged douche that don't wave in their new jk's can't help you anyway.

We're still out here there are just a lot of "others" driving our vehicles. Lol

    Shelburne...CURSES!!!

I was even ready to tow him home with the wife's minivan before the ZJ showed up.

Yes he has...driving parts from Owen Sound to Barrie, where they were relayed to another user (musicman) who delivered them to our camp on Black Lake (Ardbeg) at 10:30 at night...the break happened at 1:30 in the afternoon and we had replacement parts in 9 hours IN CAMP IN ARDBEG!!!

That was much appreciated by all in the group, especially cowboys666 who needed them and was able to continue wheeling for the weekend and drive it home to Hamilton!

A lot of standup guys/gals on here that will go out of their way to help...like Craver said, post up in broke down section...people will help when/if they can, and some will drive long distance to do so. Even when you are broke on the trail, the parts relaying can work wonders!

I have often stopped to help anyone with the hood up - most people are nervous of someone stopping........I've had guys lock the doors, and crack the window to talk and I'm no where near a big fella, LOL
My winch works more in the winter than summer it seems, I'll keep stoppping as long a most are happy for the assistance.

Chin up lad - If you ever have another issue, Elmvales not far from Midland (a jeep can limp that far) - just call and there will be 3-5 of us to the rescue. (705-795-1717)

My Willies was dead at the end of my driveway once, 3 people came over to offer advice and muscle to get it back in the garage! Thats small town folks for ya..... You gotta believe theres more good than bad, or all is lost.

I stop when and how i can, even if its as you said to offer a cel. Common courtesies like this are slim in this day and age. The common man is more of a lemming and too fkn oblivious to others around them. Quite a shame really. Good on you who posted up you stop.

Jeff, i think until you discover scissors and personal hygiene u prolly shouldnt stop, until such time as Jeepkings has a fund for getting you out of jail
Strength is nothing more than how well you hide the pain

Yer hot, wet, and extremely satisfying. You always put a smile on my face and yer the first thing i want in my mouth when i wake up....aaaaaahhhhhh Coffee, my only friend.

Sarge, if you stopped to offer help I think the average person that didn't know you would probably run for the bushes!

I have stopped and asked people if they needed help on many occasions. However, I am cautious on who and when I stop for cuz ya just don't know who's good or who's baiting a girl in.

Drizit was the exception, I would have stopped but he was in a driveway with hood down. Had no clue he was broke down.

I was on my way home Sunday and stopped to see if an old fella (60's) needed help. He was stuck on a side road (detour) with a broken on-road dirt bike. He said, out of all the people that had passed, I was the first to stop and ask if he needed some help. Turned out, he had a friend on is way with a trailer and Thank me for stopping.
I don't have an attitude problem, you're just an asshole!!

You know, I was gonna post that day on jeepkings, but... ontop of having no roadside assistance ( CAA ) my blackberry died too.

Just one of those unlucky days. It was all good, I sat watching a horse chew grass for 3 hours... and waved at jeeps as they passed by. Funny I think i got 1 " jeep wave " that day as well.

Glad to see some here still stop and offer help! I make sure I do.

Time to get a BlackBerry charger for yer Jeep ;-)

I know the feeling of needing help and of being helped. The one big help was out in the country when I ditched my Jeep in the snow...lmao, the first two trucks slowed down to "look" then kept going, the third truck stopped to actually help. No one had a tow strap, so I had 4 guys digging me out and then they had to help push Betty cuz she sucks lol

The one "non-help'' that is clear was when I left my fog lamps on and killed the battery. Stuck downtown Sarnia...hood up and NOT one person stopped and that included two jacked up Jeep's. Thankfully my dad could come help cuz the drunks at the bar were a bit too "friendly'' kinda like flies-on-shyt friendly but none of then had cars LOL

I think a lot less people stop now a days cuz the world is so messed up!! Ya just never know!

I always stop for a jeep, and usually stop for anyone else, particularly if they are in a ditch. (And yes sugar I forgive you )

It was fine CAA was on the way by that time and nothing could have been done without a new water pump.
