    SYE + XJ Front DS + 8.8 Doable?

    Iv been reading, and unfortunatly there are too many people with too many combonations to say yes or no. This is what I plan on :

    NP242 SYE <--> Ford 1310 Flange <--> XJ Front DS <--> Ford 1310 Flange <--> 8.8

    My setup is an Automatic w/ NP242. I will probably use the RE 1801 SYE, It uses the same flange as the ford Pinion flange.

    Does this make since to anyone else other then me??

    The XJ front DS has a double cardan joint at the transfer case, you will need to use a CV style yoke on the SYE for this to work

    Thats where the 1310 yoke attached to the flange of the SYE comes into play. AS the Double cardan joint uses 1310 u-joints does it not?

    Yes a 1310 Cv uses 1310 joints but the flange you speak of has no provision for the centering ball

    To go from the Flange to the double cardan, there is no centering ball. Or am I not looking at it right.

    Ill just source the Double Cardan Flange yoke.

    He most likely has an NP231 with the SYE so it uses a Standard Bolt On Yoke where as the SYE AKA Hack & Tap your likely using will use a Flange over a Yoke unless your going with the New Tom Woods NP242 SYE that is now available then you would use the same Yoke that he is useing....

    Google "go jeep xj". I did his np242 setup a few years ago before swapping to a d300. It take some parts from the RE kick depending on the year of t-case and uses a proper yoke and not a flange. Quite simple and only took me an hour or so to complete.

    Edit: Now on a computer here is the link: http://jeep-xj.info/HowtoSYEconversion.htm
    I have an RE flange seeing as at the time my only choise was to buy the whole kit.

    Got my rear yoke, and XJ front drive shaft from the scrappers today, Im gonna need a 1310/1330 u joint. I also ordered the 3103-27CV yoke from Pats Driveline. Tomorrow Im going to see if I can order just the seal housing and seal from RE.
