    Comanche build

So after seeing all the cherokee builds pop up over the last little bit it has given me the inspiration to start a build thread for my comanche. I bought this truck a little over two years ago for $200 as is with no engine. It started as a 1986 comanche 4x4 2.1turbo diesel LWB. I did a bit of research on the stock Renault 2.1 turbo and quickly decided that I didn't want to bother finding parts and fixing it. It didn't seem to make sense as they didn't have a reputation of being overly reliable, powerful and pretty much obsolete. Not to mention I'm not really a diesel guy. So I found a donor 1991 cherokee 4L 5 spd and the build began. Here is what it looked like when I brought it home.

This is where I ran into problems. Turns out a 4.0 don't fit in a pre 1987 comanche or cherokee.

I removed the engine and compared the firewalls of both mj and xj and could see the difference. The xj had about 2 inches more clearance behind the engines cylinder head than the mj. I sectioned the xj firewall into the mj. Here's a couple pics.

Here is some patch work inside the cab all cleaned up, patched and POR15'd

Some pics of the lift going in and a fork lift flex test. I used a rough country long arm upgrade kit and bought 6.5 springs, adjustable trac bar, drop pitman arm and bilistien shocks. The lift was a real pain to install because none of the crossmember bolt holes lined up and I had to drill all my own holes and fish nuts into the frame. That's why I don't have many pics of the install, I was a little frustrated
