    FREE trailer plan downloads

Just found this and thought it would help some people around here who wanted to build their own trailer.

Posted in Fab Forum because the plans would ultimately lead to fab work.

Two sets of plans, one for a 5x8 and the other for a 6x10, I am sure both or either could be adapted to different sizes with some modifications. I just downloaded both and saved them for later...totally free, no catches, no scams, no need to input your email or any other info...just a quick download of 1 of 2 (or both) sets of plans.

    Here is the link...

Maybe we could get some discussion going in this thread...What would you change? What would you add? What do you like about them? What don't you like about them? etc.

I saw a couple things on a commercial trailer site...they have a Trailers101 page that discusses various options, like rub rails, stake pockets, they even have an explanation and pics of a tilt mechanism using a basic manual bottle jack (theirs is long stroke, but the concept is good and a regular stroke jack could be used depending on how much tilt you needed).

Lot's of good ideas here. Thanks for posting it. I've built a couple of trailers and they can be fun projects. The devil is in the details. There's usually 10 or more ways to do everything and you can beat yourself up trying to figure out which one is best for you. Information like this is very helpful.

The videos in post #2 were great and gave a good overall view of how to go about it. I laughed when he talked about registration issues (lights for example). In Ontario it's a bit of a joke. I got my last one plated before it was even half finished!

LOL I have plates and don't even have a trailer, grabbed them a few weeks ago...I've never actually owned a trailer myself but plan to have one before spring.

Just watch if you build your own trailer and then move to another province... To have my 5' x 10' trailer licensed here in Alberta; it required a $200 inspection, and a smart a$$ed comment, "that light doesn't work, but since I leaned on it and broke it, we'll let it go".
It's a never ending project! and definitely in need of a garage!

I haven't come across any info on dump trailers, then again it is not something I have been looking for. To be sure everybody is aware, none of the info included in this thread to this point belongs to me. The info posted/linked is purely the result of Google searches and belongs to the respective individuals/websites/etc. where they are found or whoever they list as the owner of the info.

If you happen to find any info on dump trailers I am sure other would appreciate you adding it to the thread.
