JOIN US FOR A ROAD TRIP: JeepKings.ca is heading to Petawawa - Part Deux - July 6th

That's right, you heard it here first...and more than just myself and the family this time around...

Plan is to leave from South Lake Tent and Trailer Park (Minden) mid-afternoon on Saturday, July 6th, and be in Petawawa for early evening, then returning to Minden much later that night (unless you wish to find some accommodations and stay overnight).

Our destination is Madameek Restaurant where will enjoy the great food and AMAZING hospitality of the Diab family.

I am sure at least a handful will be making the round trip in their Jeeps, will be cool to have a bunch of Jeeps road tripping up and making a display in front of the restaurant. This road trip is not limited to Jeeps, even those who don't feel like mortgaging their house for fuel can come along in their minivans...

Post up here and let us know your plans...I need to give the Diab family an idea of how many people to expect...if you are bringing along more than just yourself please post that up as well...I know at least a few people that will be bringing their kids along, so this is a family friendly trip.

    Some notes:

    - further details regarding time we will be leaving Minden, expected route, etc. will come at a later date
    - once a time is set, we will be leaving South Lake at that time, we will NOT "wait 5 minutes, I am almost there"
    - according to Google it is approximately 250 KM (3.5 hours) one way from Minden to Petawawa
    - you are responsible for setting up any accommodations/food/etc. on your own (those of us who have already discussed the trip will be staying at South Lake for the weekend and making the return trip the same night)
    - there will be no mass stops for fuel, etc., en route, if you need to stop, it will be your responsibility to continue and/or catch up to the group on your own
    - you don't need to join the group right at South Lake, you can pop in at any point along the route, or just meet us in Petawawa

Sandy wants to go, So unless someone want to take her for me I'm in.

Any idea yet on the route you will be taking
There is no such thing as a stupid question, If you don't know the answer. As long as you keep telling yourself that, I am laughing with you and not at you

When it comes to Sandy, I think yer stuck with her....

As for the route, it will most likely be 118/28/62/60 (general idea, not exact directions)...taking us from Minden through Haliburton, Cardiff, Bancroft, Maynooth, Combermere, Barry's Bay, past Bonnechere Park, and into Petawawa...

The route has not been hammered out 100%, but if you search Google Maps using "South Lake Trailer Park, Minden Hills, ON" as point A, and "Madameek, Victoria Street, Petawawa, ON" as point B, then it is the first option, listed as ON-118E...it is the shortest in both distance and time...

I would suggest that route for your tour. I drive basically that route twice a weekend and it is the easiest and quickest. There is currently construction on 28 between 118 and Bancroft, but as of now the asphalt is just stripped in preparation of whatever is upcoming. I can give weekend updates to give you guys a heads up.

OK confirmed, Me plus 4. (3 kids) we will likely just meet there, will see what transpires. Won't have jeep as I will be hauling the 5vr as we will be staying in the Ottawa region the following next few days. But I would be interested in a good campsite to park the trailer for a night. It has only been about 26 years since I did my basic training there !!!!! lol

A good and somewhat local camp ground located between Pembroke and Petawawa is at Pine Ridge Park and Resort. 619 River Drive, Pembroke, ON (it's actually easier to go straight now Radtke Road) www.pineridgepark.com

They have some large pull through site, beach, store, park and restaurant on site. They also rent cottages.

We stay there every year when we're up fishing on the Ottawa River.
