    Too good to be true?

So I have been out of the Jeep world for a few years (commuting) but lately I have been shopping around again to see what is out there. I stumbled across a rather nice rig, and maybe others here have too, and I cant help but wonder if it's legit. In the event that it is real I will not mention the actual ad, but here are the specs that I can see from it....

    2007 JK Unlimited Rubicon

    20+K (miles, American import)

    MODS.

Dynatrac Pro Rock 60's front and back
    Locking front hubs
King coilovers (longass ones) remote res, with king bump stops
Trail Ready bead locks with 40" Goodyear MTR's (first gen) plus matching spare
    Onboard air
can't nail down make of longarm lift, but looks to be done right,
no mention or pics of t-case

A few other bits and pieces, spot lights, custom sub enclosure and aftermarket head unit, AFE intake,

The listed price is just over $27k......

Can this be right? They note that over $50k is rumored to have gone into the upgrades.

Seems to be a legit dealer, but I'm going to go and check it out. From the description in the ad it is clear that they do not usually sell rigs like this because they are wrong about a bunch of things, and I am wondering what kind of issues one may have with registering a vehicle from the US should this actually turn out to be someting I wanted to go with.

    Anyway,

    Thoughts?

And, make sure you can actually insure and plate that thing here with the emphasis on insurance.

Just because someone else had a plate on it doesn't mean you can either.

    You talking about this one?

    http://www.munromotors.com/used/Jeep...5cabb6cc53.htm

It's legit. I'm not going to say who I know or how, but I know somebody who is connected to the dealership and it is legit.

People lose their shirt on money they put into vehicles all the time. Every dollar you spend on a mod should be considered a dollar thrown away because it is a very finite market that will want to buy your modded Jeep and that finite market is not going to pay face value for any of the parts and they will not pay for any of the labour.

Just a heads up...somebody already tried to go test pilot that Jeep, when they were politely informed their idea of a test drive would not fly they started actin' a fool. Was not a good scene from what I hear.

Before you get into what is required to bring a vehicle in from the US, ask the dealer if it has already gone through the importation process. I do not know the dealer personally so I do not know that info or any other info about the vehicle.

I would also suggest you look into insurance before even peeking at the Jeep...would suck to get to far into the deal only to be told you have to have "facility" insurance.

yup. thats the one. They say it's sold certified and tested, and they list the VIN too.... I would not want to go and test pilot, but I just want to see it face to grill and make sure it is what is pictured in the ad.

I know that the parts alone add up over 25k, thats why I questioned this.....

    Interesting.

I have not personally seen the Jeep so I can't attest to the actual equipment, but I can say the ad and the dealership is legit. It is a brick and mortar business, not a "send your money to Nigeria with a self addressed stamped envelope and we will send you the Jeep" kind of deal.

If you want to see it in person it is a short 2.5 hour drive from Penetang.

When they're new and at list price they might add up that fast.

My insurance broker told me once your frame gets modified you're into a whole pile of hurt to try to get insured. I imagine they had to do some frame chopping to get the coilovers in there?

Insurance is the last concern I have. I know its not the same as insuring a ford fiesta, but there are many companies that understand a properly modified vehicle is as good if not better than a factory one. These mode are actually quite straight forward and do not require a hack of any kind. I'm kind of excited to see it.

Re: Too good to be true?

If it hasn't been brought to Canada before your gonna get screwed.

When it comes time to do the R.I.V the vehicle will be inadmissible unto Canada. No lifted vehicle is passable.

I've done a shit load of then when I worked for crappy tire and if there lifted they have to be brought back to stock ride hight. Than can go right back to lifted after report is done.

Or find the one guy that doesn't give a shit and he'll pass it like I use too. Lol

Re: Too good to be true?

Sad thing is you probably won't have e an issue crossing the the border with it. It's the R.I.V. that ****s you hard.

Do a lot research on it before you think k about bring a lifted modified vehicle into canada

Since grammar was an issue, I felt compelled to help.

So not too good to be true, just too good to last long enough for me to snatch it up. It sure is a nice rig though... hope to see it on the trail someday.
