    Project: Cheap Jeep

ok, I bought a 1990 Jeep YJ about a month ago, this is my third YJ and my first 4.2L. before i bought the jeep it had quite a life, and alot of upgrades threw the years. any way this is wht i know i have
    4" suspension lift
Teraflex revolving shackles on the front
the front diff gears were welded and have a cable to engage (i need to adjust cable because im not fully disengaging it)
theres a locker in the back
it has a full roll cage
the front bumper has a bracket on it to hold a winch
the rear bumper is custom built, heavy duty, with a swinging tire holder.
    1 3/4 inch body lift

PICTURES ARE AT http://www.jeepkings.ca/forums/album.php?albumid=1304, I will keep posting pictures as I go

now what i need to do to safety it is replace the windshield, and install a parking brake, but due to the cage theres not enough room to use a factory style one so im looking for ideas here

the engine needs a tune up and ive never done any carb work on a car or truck so thats going to be fun
the brakes all seem to be fine, i might put pads and shoes on just for peice of mind

now for the fun part.... my engine dosnt leak oil, but everything else in the drive train does, and i mean EVERYTHING!!!!!!!! any tips on resealing axles, transfer case, and trans would be greatly appreaciated, i am looking for a spare tranny transfer case ect,

the tires on it now are 215/75r15, i will be looking next week for a set of 33's or 35's on rims, cheap ($300-$350)

i am looking for some checker plate to go along the bottom of the jeep
i also need fender flares, mine are weather cracked and bent out of shape
i need leaf spring plates for the front, where my sway bar hooks up the eyes are bent back and down out of shape

what else should i be looking for? im hopeing to have it ready for the etest in a couple weeks, after i tune the engine up

i need to find a used car dealer that is willing to come to the jeep to appraise it so i can get my temp plates and test it on the trail

oh and one last thing, i need to adjust my brake light switch, it only works when the peddle is all the way down, any ideas on how to fix this???

I have picked up my tires, I found a set of 33 12.5 15 TSL thorn bird on rims, this added a new thing to my project, I now need to build fender flares, about 8 inches wide.

I still need to get my hands on a windshield!!!

Got the tires put on it yesterday, the spacer lugnuts were to small for the yj so had to make a trip to crappy, tires makes this thing look mean

I still need to get my hands on a windshield and a trans / transfer case just to make this thing drive and shift nicely, also looking for a set of decent cheap doors, mine are messed up a bit, going to cut them down to make custom half doors when I find a new set

I still need to figure out my brake light switch, if I put the peddle all the way down the lights come on for a sec then go off again, has anyone had this issue before?

Does anyone have a vacuum hose schematic for a 4.2? I have to start from scratch there are no hoses hooked up to my air cleaner anymore

I have 35/12.5/15s on my yj and i have tj flares for more clearance
Also look for a mc2100 carb and a gm hei distributor if you want it to run well
And for that tire size you should run 4:10 gears if it's not already
I thought life handed you lemons..... who the phuk is throwing them at my head !!!

Got under the jeep today to see what transfer case is on it, is a 231J

Found a place to get 8' x 2' checker plate for $40 a sheet, going to get 2 of them and cover the sides with it and build some rock sliders/steps for the wife to get in

I dunno, a size 5.5 on a angle like that....I'll find her a pair of platform shoes 5 3/4" high

I needed her to hold the brake when I put the spacers on and she needed to climb up on a tire to get in, I should have got a video
