Need some help with axle identity

A friend of mine has an axle in a 2003 GMC 3500 Van. It looks massive and has Dana stamped on the housing and on the cover. It does not have 4" axle tubes, and it has 12 bolts on the cover. But the BOM # doesn't match anything online. The VIN at the dealer only tells us its a 10.5 with 373 gears. We can't seem to find out any other info for this axle anywhere and I was hoping someone could help me make some sense of it. I've got some pictures hopefully I can figure this out.

If you have the space and it isn't in your way, it's worth keeping. It is not particularly valuable or sought after. I believe it is characterized as a "Super 70"since it is from an 03 and up Savanna Van Those do use adjuster nuts on the carrier bearing instead of shims so they are a bit easier for setting up gears. I couldn't tell you what carrier type that 70 is but a little researching could come up with it, I'm sure. I'm not sure what allows for the "Super" designation other than the adjuster nuts....could be a different carrier and bearing combo...

Yes, that is a handy site for axle parts info for sure. http://www.ringpinion.com/b2c/PartCa...D=3&DiffID=262 - The Super 70 uses standard D70 gears but it looks like the carrier might be a problem...they are only listing a Dana Trac-Loc posi.
