    Greetings and a little help!

Hey all, new to the forum and new to jeeps! Been lurking for a while, guess it's time to pony up and post.

So I bought a nice 98 GC Laredo a while back, today on the drive home it started reving higher than normal prior to shifting, seemed to be getting worse as I went, 120 km 4500-5500 rpm and not shifting. Hate to assume what it is! I think have an idea that it's not good!

Cheers, any suggestions before it goes in the shop?

Sounds like the tranny. Check the fluid, also test your TPS as that can cause shifting issues. Have you tried manually shifting the Trans with your shifter?

Fluid looks ok. It's hit and miss now if will shift to the next gear, I can help it by shifting into neutral the back to D and it will match the gear with rpm, I've been nursing it along for two days doing this.

Soooo, upon further testing! The tranny is slipping like a mofo and inspection of the fluid shows that the tranny fluid is the same yucky brown as the rad! Thoughts?

It's bone stock! It's been oil sprayed since new and driven by a retiree.

Rad fluid is brown too? In that case you have a cracked rad and the fluids are mixing. Your tranny will be toast soon.

    Greetings and a little help!

It's alive! I managed to swap out the transmission and rad in the driveway. Thanks for the help all and a shout out to Gravy for finding me the trans, rad and helping with a little elbow grease and guidance.
