Just Jeeps "Ballin To Brawlin" Jeep JK Build

    Brief Background:
We were initially approached by a true "vehicle enthusiast" to change his ballin' 2dr JK with big rims and tiny tires into something a little more Jeep like. With his budget set in place we got to specking out what would be required to meet his expectations. This customer continuously makes waves in the custom car culture in Ontario and is known across North America for his charitable car shows. I know some of the mods may not be everyone's cup of tea but everyone should really sit back with an open mind and appreciate this for what it is. An incredible build that I think no one including us would hesitate to park in our garage or take out on the street or the trails to enjoy.

    The Customers Requirements:

    1. Clear 40" Tires
    2. Remain Close To Stock Handling
    3. Remain Reliable

As you can see not really that easy of a task considering on the tire size choice. It's pretty amazing what the customer and our shop with the help of others in the industry has accomplished with this build considering everything is pretty much standard issue non custom fabricated. We did along the way add our own little touches just to improve on an already existing product but other than that most of the parts can be purchased over the counter as you see them. It really opened our eyes as a shop as to what is currently available out there in the market and how well things are engineered these days to work together. On to the exciting part the build list!

    Where Are We At?
So I'm sure the question is where are we at with this build since the photo at the top shows what looks like a completed build. We are basically at the final stages of final assembly. I figured it would be much better to slowly feature each part of the build after it's completed so we could share what worked what didn't work and what we would change if anything. Feel free to ask questions as I am sure many of you have some and stay tuned to this thread to see the process of building this monster!

Since you already acknowledged that you knew this was coming...

Everything looks cool until I see the tire and rim choice...and the huge pile of LED light bars. I realize these things are great for car show rides so I understand the sentiment. Just a shame to see all of that impressive hardware on a show vehicle.

But don't let my crusty ass get in the way of a good build thread. lol

This is a very cool build thread coming up. Now I was under the impression the pic above was a rc type toy and not an actual jeep.
Question: Is the picture above the jeep that is being build or is it a toy/model of the one being built?
    Don't ask me cause I don't know.

SPOD unfortunately wont meet our requirements. Also the fitting of the brain and switches is another issue with future plans.

He wants us to take him wheeling when it's complete. I'm sure after one trip on the current wheel and tire setup he may change his mind to something a little bit better off-road. My suggestion is two sets of wheels and tires for the two purposes show and off-road. When he first came in I told him we were not interested in building a strictly show vehicle that i would make sure if he wanted to go off-road he could beat on it and it would be capable. He owns a wheel and tire company so part of the rim and tire choice currently reflects that.

    ok ok i'll start updating..lol

So if you have not read the above the Jeep came in to our surprise with 24" rims and low profile tires and the rare but not what we are after European bumpers. In our opinion not what the Jeep thing is all about. It is true we do appreciate everyone's tastes but lets be honest these are 4x4 vehicles they should stick to the ideas behind 4x4'ing. Upon discussing the final goals of this build it was decided to use Poison Spyder for all the armor/body work where possible.

We chose to test fit everything before the customer delivered the parts to his powder coater. This allowed us to make any modifications required before final painting such as adding the light brackets and zip tie tabs to the front bumper from @TMR. To our pleasant surprise the build quality of the Poison Spyder stuff required little to no modification whatsoever to fit the contours of the JK body.
