    Wife's Canyon Build

So the wife is hooked now that the jeep is done and we have been out playing in it she has a whole new outlook on wheeling haha. We went from always buying off the shelf items like lift kits and such and always breaking down and always being so sore and tired after wheeling because they all just ride like shit sure they lift you up and some are smoother and better than others but it just wasn't cutting it, so putting the jeep on long arms and oris opened our eyes to what could be done! we realized it costs more up front but pays off in the end if you love doing it

This isn't your average truck or jeep build gmc canyons are rare not really any aftermarket support but there small enough to wheel with jeeps yet big enough to haul around our atv and dirtbikes so it was a perfect truck for her. She ended up with a 2008 Canyon ext. cab short box it has the inline 5 with an automatic. I think the truck now has like 130,000km on it so its in good shape overall

    The build Specs;

    Axles:
1989 GM corp 10 bolts - $80 for complete set with brakes
30 spline inners (bigger style only few years made)
    19 spline outters
    G2 4.56 gears
    Dana 44 flat top knuckles
North west fab high steer arms
    trussed by me
back is a factory G80 locker and I put 4.56 in it as well

In the future both will probably get better lockers we decided on these axles for various reasons rather than 1 ton or me taking to time to fab like hybrid 9s - 1 because there cheap $80 for the set haha
2 - there light this will be a DD from Milton to Peterborough weekly
3 - lots of parts around
4- beef enough to handle 35's with her driving style and habbits any insane trails we take the jeep

    Steering:
    1.5" .25" DOM everything
    PSC 1.5" hydro assist
1993 IFS Toyota steering box drilled and tapped for hydro
all mounted on high steer arms so everything is above the diff

    Suspension:
    3 link long arm front
    leafs back SOA
10" resi coil overs front with hydro bumps
10" resi with dampening adjuster shocks in back

    Tires:
15" Weldon bead lock rims by me
    35" pitbulls

So far the truck is stripped up front ready to all the test fitting and crap plan is to be done in two weeks and drive it

Should look and operate great. Can't wait to see it all done. Canyons are a nice size.

Thanks! yeah we enjoy going atv together when not wheeling and also we both ride motocross so its a nice in between from a full-size truck or getting an suv and towing with a trailer! it works great offroad for what she puts it through because its small and light enough but the IFS front end and leafs in the back are killing our bodies from the rough ride once you have built a rig using long arms and ori or coilovers you don't care what the cost is you never want to ride in anything sub par again its just to hard on yourself haha when we took this truck out before anything over 10km/h was killing ya compared to the jeep running 50-70kmh offroad and be comfy haha

The goal is stay low keep the truck small for a DD its not a rock crawler or a mud bogger just an average build made for comfort and long drives

started the steering gear box rebuild and drill and tap last night for hydro assist things are coming along nice! also designed all the plates for laser cut to mount the box on the frame should have everything sitting in place this weekend!

Unless your getting used I'd look at the 37" radials. Near the same weight, truer size and not stupid wide. Especially for weekly long commutes. IMO

have you compared the radials to the bias? I've heard that the bias measure short in the 37's, but that Pitbull recently change the mold to improve the situation.

Interested to see how this turns out, and how the 10 bolts hold up over time.
