    Emissions legal engine swaps jk

Can anyone tell me how engine swaps work with Ontario emissions? Is it possible to swap an LS into a jk and get it to be legal?
    thanks

I think all engines swapped in have to be newer.

Anybody in Ontario with a business been able to meet or exceed original emissions with a LS? They would be the ones to talk to.

I think what it is saying is whatever the replacement engine is needs to have the emissions equipment that it originally came with and the engine can't have more emissions than the original. So, can an LS say a 5.3 with VVT have less emissions than a 3.8?

We haven't done an LS but a few Hemi's. Ultimately it comes down to the fact now that they scan the computer it just has to be matched to the VIN and all sensors have to read ready. That's pretty much it we haven't had any issues with any of the swaps not passing etest.

So if you can put a hemi in it I should be able to put an LS with all the sensors and I should be still legal is what I'm thinking you are saying.

Yes, that is totally doable and has been done by many people in Ontario as the LS engines offer the most bang for the buck and are typically the easiest of the late model engines to swap.

Close but not the easiest. Problem with the LS swaps is most people are sending the ECU's out to have work done to them or when they encounter an issue. There seems to not be anybody local that plays with them regularly in late model Jeeps. The Hemi swaps are recognized by Star Scan most of the time as a Jeep Commander so basically any dealer can troubleshoot and work out any glitches that may be present.

Personally I would love an LS swapped JK over a Hemi but for the average person the Hemi is much more simple into a JK.
