By far the most common was 3.07. In '97 an optional 3.55 was available, and that was switched to 3.73 around '99. Only way to be sure is check the diff's. Although if you're changing front and rear from one to another it won't matter, just have to swap the speedo gear in the t-case.

Unless you have a Sahara the gear ratio will likely be 3:07's for both as all auto's and Manuals for a TJ are the same with exception to Rubicon's and Sahara's...

Take the VIN into the dealership and go to the parts counter and ask them to print you the build sheet for each vehicle and it will tell you the ratio,
if by chance they wont print you a build sheet due to privacy crap then just ask them to just tell you the gear ratio's...

Tis is of coarse is if you have the VIN of the two Jeeps and if not then your going to have to drop the diff covers and either decode the gear numbers (some are easier then others) or count the ring and pinion teeth...

Could still be either ratio, Sahara makes no difference, my '97 Sport came with 3.55 gears from the factory. More of the Sahara's had the 3.55 or 3.73 ratio's because more had the optional 30" tire package, which included the higher gears, but it was also optional on the Sport models.

Well Sahara's usually have 3:73's but you should double check that with the build sheet or dealer with the VIN because all the Sahara's I have parted have been manuals

You can run the VIN online and it will tell you gear ratio, or you can open the dif and post the 6 digits stamped into the ring gear, that will also tell you the ratio.
BTW, my 99 sport came with 3:07.
WARNING! I am about to do something really fawking STUPID!!!!!!
