    Project FrankenJeep

I know the name has most likely already been taken but its the name it was given, so deal with it haha

Starting with an 1980 CJ7 garage find
    304/tf999/d300

Previous owner had spent some time on it, frame off at one point, no rust, solid and fibreglass tub
Hockey puck body lift... I may keep it just to piss people off

It has been sitting on my trailer for the last 16 months and finally I (we, thanks 4 Banger and Dynnomite!) have started to bring it back to life. Was sitting on the fence as to what to do with it... do i keep the 304? but ultimately I have decided to do sbc swap from the donor truck I got.

    The Donor...

1984 K20 short box with cucv d60 front and 14b rear, hoping for 4:56 gears and lunch box type locker in the rear, 1987 SBC size TBD, (305 or 350) 700r4 and NP208. 40" TSL's

    Plans for the build...

Swap in the SBC/tranny/tcase, run the 208 for now and build the D300 for when I grenade the 208. maybe just get an atlas... who knows
3 link front, 4 link rear, stretched to a minimum of 110", really... as long as I can go. Use the 40's for now, but may build to suit 42's in the future. Not sure what suspension to use yet, struts, coil overs I dunno
    Comp cut body
    Full cage/suspension seats and harnesses

Hoping to race, maybe not next year, but it is in the plans

Will continue to update thread as we progress

That rear 14b should have a Detroit in it from the factory if it's a true CUCV truck no need for a lunchbox.

    Yeah, that is the hope.
I was told if it's a true cucv it has a "lunch box type locker"
I have to do some investigation in what I actually have. All good parts so far. Hopeing for the awesome sauce

If I'm not mistaken isn't the Detroit for the 14b basically a lunchbox because there's so much room in the carrier?

Sort of. There is no distinction between a lunch box and a full Detroit on a 14B because it uses a split two piece carrier. You must split it to remove the spiders and add auto locker guts.
