I tend to read alot of threads that refer to blow by. Can someone please explain to me what this is, how it's caused and how detrimental this could be to ones vechicle? Just want to learn more and to possiblly know what to look for in the future,

My understanding is that blow by is the result of worn piston rings causing the fuel/air to 'blow by' the rings during the combustion stroke.

Reduction in compression and power would be some symptoms, someone more experience can no doubt expand on this...

Blow by is pretty simple.. it's just happens when you have old tired rings and on your compression stoke some of the air/fuel is aloud to pass through into the crankcase.. hence "blow-by" . when blow by gets bad, what happens is your PCV valve can't remove enough of teh pressure so the blow by has to get out somewhere. so it goes out the breather tube that goes from your valve cover to your air breather.
