You guys have to talk to me. I know jeeps, have good companies, and I know insurance. Never buy Insurance from someone who doesn't know about our hobbies. They go by what they are taught by their firm and if they take the course, the basic OAP instructions. I know the right way to insure a modified rig, I also go through the same grief as you guys and can explain first hand from experience the hoops you need to jump through to get the right coverage on your ride. Just remember that nobody can really refuse you auto insurance unless you are too high risk, or have comitted insurance fraud.

    Badassjeep,

you have to consider a few things when it comes to your insurance. First off you went through graduated licensing, second off you are a single male under 25 more then likely, and thirdly students are high risk, they tend to pay tuition and food, then other expenses before paying insurance, because lets face it, school is more important. You also should have been given some credit for being on your parents insurance, because that is considered having time on policy by most companies. Also being a student most insurance companies have endorsements on policies carried by the parents to allow for a child to take a vehicle to school.

Sorry guys, the tires may be DOT. But if they are not the EXACT same size tire that was delivered from the manufacturer, you are now modified. Good luck getting ins on a modified vehicle in Ontario. You'll have even less luck processing a claim, you might get lucky with simple vandalism, or theft claims but if your at fault in an accident that's another story.

The bigger you go in tire size, the more rolling resistance you have. Your vehicle was not designed to turn a tire that big, and your brakes were definatly not designed to stop a tire that big. Bottom line, If you don't stop in time, you are negligent. This is the insurance industry's point. The tires may be road leagal, but it doesn't mean you vehicle is road leagal with them installed.

Been there, done that, bought a trialer...

Bigger tires need bigger brakes. Upgrade your brakes.

Why not mod/improve the stuff that's going to save your life?

Because its more expensive that way. I have brakes, I need the money to get the lift and tires on so that I can go wheeling!
