Checking codes on an 02 Focus?

Anyone know if there is way to check the OBDII codes on a 2002 Focus without a scanner/reader?

The wife told me her CEL ligth came on this morning.. I'm puttin gmy money on the gas cap since she filled up last night.. but if thats not it, id like to be able to read it without taking it in.

Well,... I got lazy and ignored the light for a month and now its gone.. I assume it was the gas cap and after X amount of clean starts it reset the code.

25 "Drive Cycles" and most gas cap codes will reset themselves.
