Hey Duncan, thought you might like a little feedback on your test. I think it would help if you could give us a little write up to help explain the parts we're looking at, and tell us which is which. ie Left side value winch, right side Titan.
You never truly know your limits until you exceed them....

Yes that would help a little as i have been somewhat busy today stripping down Winches to compare the components . I was actually a little surprised at the lack of any decent quality in the Brand i was comparing the Titan Winch with.
Picture # 1 shows the main outer seal on the Titan ( left )and the lack of any seal on the right
#2 shows no Bearing/seal on Motor shaft
#3 shows the bearing on the Titan shaft
#4 the front set of gears are from the Titan and the rear are from the other winch
#5 shows a bearing on motor/ other winch uses a plastic sleeve ( no picture.)
    # 6 same gears showing the assembled quality of both
#8 shows the Clutch gear on the other winch is simply cut in to the housing using the cast metal.
#9 the Titan clutch gear is a machined steel gear that is seperate from the housing.
The pictures that i have not shown is the Gear casing being " clocked "
I have a few other pictures but the thing i found most interesting was the amount of grease that was put in the gear assembly in the other unit ( i suppose it can help you get thru a 12 month warranty period ) but it really does not matter for this comparison, as you can see from the pictures

The Winch i am talking about is the right winch but it is sometimes the left winch but a winch is a winch unless it is not a winch wich winch are we talking about ( not to be confused with a wench , wenches dont winch )

I have deliberatlley left out the name of the other Winch as the point i am making is the difference in the 2 winches ( the other Winch is slightly more expensive) but still in the same price range, I have stated on my Web Page that the Titan Winch ( although it can be classed as a value priced Winch ) has the build quality and features of Winches costing 100s of Dollars more.
This is just a comparison showing the difference in " some other value priced Winches" and the Titan Winch. I thought by doing it this way i would not be knocking the competition but simply showing my winches build quality.( although the Brand is well known)
And of course the other reason is i am terrible on the computer and i wanted to see if i could post the pictures. ( that is why it is in the test section)
    Cheers
