    Bonjerno(sp?) from Florida

well that that was prolly the worst 25 hrs i have ever spent in a car... i drove 21 outta the 25 hr's and to top it off i drove with my crazy mother-in-law, who didnt beleive that my GPS knew where were to go. i actually drove almost an hour outta the way just to shut her up. arrgh i was ready to snap.

but the car has developed a lifter tick (i think that is what it is) at idle it ticks like a bastard and when the engine is under power the tick goes away, and when the car is just maintaining speed the tick is real bad...

am i gonna puff my motor? should i get it to a dealer stat? it is a 05 subaru impreza RS. it burns oil like a banshee, so it has lots in it... maybe a little too much but it burns it anyway. it need an oil change, i will get that down here,

can i put a thicker oil in? should i switch to synthetic? add an additive?

    thanks guys

I've always run Synthetic, and would recomend it for that car, but I would also try to find a good engine flush product to use just before the oil change, Amsoil makes one called ironically "Engine Flush" if you can find it. Find a place to change the oil, and then put this in and let it idlefor 15-20 mins before doing the change, just don't drive with it in. As for your MIL problem, try picking up a Pantera CD and that annoying noise in the back should just disapear. Have a good Vacation Bro

    BASTARD....
you didnt take us ALL with you...
are we really worse than the MIL?
after your oil change, try putting in some LUCAS OIL TREATMENT...
BTW, how many clicks on the car?
is it under warrantee at the dealer?
you better call your home service dept to find out if you are covered down in the 11th province...

I'd contact the home dealership regarding warrantee if possible first then if no coverage then try some of the other suggestions (Lugz and/or Dynno).

Not sure if this has any bearing as your car is very different and new in comparison but many years ago (early 90's) I had a '79 Pontiac with a V8 - 305 in it and it developed the same sound .... all I did was run 20W50 motor oil in it and it ran and ran and ran ..... about two years later it developed an electrical issue that I couldn't resolve and the tranny went so I scrapped the car.

    thanks guys...
it has around 60K on it... but Jenn has been slack on the oil changes. she says it it my job... and to a piont i agree but she should be checking the oil at least. which has been run DRY more then once. as i said it burn alot of oil and the tick i was told earlier is "the subaru tick" but now it is more then just "the tick"
i think it has a north america wide warranty... but it could be national. i will call the dealer and find out.

60k and running dry ???? Even if it was 10k or 15k between oil changes would be a big concern ... call the dealership and don't say a word about missed oil changes (yeah Captain Obvious here).

yeah it was cold here the last few days... but it was still a farcry from the -15 i heard yoiu guys got... it was tough standing on the beach at Siesta Key (#2 beach in all of world) in pants and a hoodie. the sand was incredible, like powder.

we were gonna leave this morning and take 2 days to get home but he decided to leave tonight and drive straight thru... i guess i am a glutton for punishment... might come home 1 person light... if you catch my drift.

^^ Does the weather make you speak as a "Third person" or is that just a PitBoyz thing
Or is this the imaginary wife who hangs out with LugNutz imaginary wife

No, he often speaks in the third person Dave, which is almost as erie as when he talks to himself online.

As for his wife, I'm confused... if she doesn't exist, why the hell am I congradulating 4Bagger?
