    And The Gloves Are Off!!

let try this again... this time i will click SUBMIT LOL

towed the subaru to the dealer yesterday... BLOWN ROD BEARING!!!

so now i have to prove all oil changes in the last 3 yrs. by my calculations i have to come up with 12 changes (68k / 6k = 11+ changes)
3 were major service intervals, 1 in florida, 2 or 3 @ jiffy lube, 1 at the local garage (old school garage, no computer... paper only ), bought a couple filters from richmond hill subaru and did myself, but cash and carry so no record (i called)

so i need to come up with some dated reciepts for 5W30 oil. if any one has any, it would be greatly appreciated.

    thanks guys

I may actually have a few dated reciepts from canadian tire for oil, and filters...

I would think the filters are a dead give away that it wasn't for your car though, because the filters were for my chev...

I'll check for you anyways. I may have one from december of 06

Find a friendly shop who has a work order pad -- get them to back date you some... Good luck.

THEY ARE WARRANTYING THE MOTOR!!! WOOHOO!!!

the are going to start with the short block and if the damage has spread to the heads then they will replace them too.

    Awesome!

Good for them. It's way too common for companies to deny a warranty claim. It's nice to hear of someone who's honourable.

If I was a Jeep, they'd have parted me out a LONG time ago.

I had the same problem with a legacy. The gave me a new short block and 1 year later the head gaskets went. Don't know if it was related but they wanted $5000 to fix it. Best car I ever had cept for the motor.

Ask to see the heads once they are all apart....
you mentioned that it burned oil as well...
PUSH to get the heads done to reduce the amount of oil consumption...
tell them is was probably leaking past the valve guides...
they have no way to prove otherwise....

whatever... car is sold, not my problem anymore... and i would say a new block would give it at least a 3/4 new motor IMO... LOL

When my gaskets went the car would run perfect for about 5 minutes untill it warmed up and antifreeze would start comming out everywhere. I wanted to trade it in for a golf tdi.I shampooed the motor and the interior. I shopped around in my wifes car and found a tdi at a subaru dealer 3 towns away. I have CAA so the tow truck picked my legacy up at my house and dropped it and me around the corner of the dealership. I told the truck driver what I was doing and he thought it was great. I drove my cold legacy onto the lot and thet looked it over and said it was in perfect shape. No need to test drive this one he says to me. They gave me top doller for the trade and I told him I needed the golf today. 1/2 later I drove home in my new tdi.Even now once in a while I will feel a tinge of guilt but not for long.
